Iran Unveils New Weapons, Personnel Combat Equipments
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian defense ministry on Wednesday unveiled five new military products, including new weapons and military tools.
The new achievements were unveiled by Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi in a special ceremony in Tehran on the verge of Khordad 3 (May 24), marking the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr city from the Iraqi occupation during the eight-year war in the 1980s.
During the ceremony, a new infantry gun, named Sarbaz (soldier), was unveiled. The new weapon is an optimized version of Russian Kalashnikov light weapons with higher capabilities.
Mersad high precision sniper rifle with the capability to be equipped with night-vision goggles and Sa'ed pistol, a light and precise small-caliber handgun, were among the other weapons unveiled in the ceremony.
The Iranian defense ministry also unveiled large-caliber penetration ammunition with the capability to penetrate hard armor, such as combat chopper and armored vehicles and personnel carriers.
A special clothing which camouflages the troops from infrared cameras was the fifth achievement unveiled by Vahidi today.
