Army Fighter Jet Crashes in Southwestern Iran

TEHRAN (FNA)- Two pilots were killed after an Iranian Army fighter jet crashed into the mountains in Iran's Southwestern Ilam province this morning, a provincial official confirmed on Sunday.

Governor of Abdanan Morad Nasseri told FNA that the aircraft was an Army F-5 and crashed into a mountain near the town of Abdanan this morning.

"The aircraft crashed into Filman Mountain on the outskirts of Abdanan and blasted," Nasseri announced, adding that both the pilot and copilot have been killed on the scene.

He further stated that the relief and rescue squads as well as military and security teams are already on the scene to investigate the possible cause of the crash.

He said that the fighter jet operated for the Army's base in Iran's Southwestern city of Dezful.
