Iranian Hospitals Eager to Use Bandages Containing Silver Nanoparticles

TEHRAN (FNA)- A number of Iranian hospitals welcomed the use of anti-bacterial bandages produced by Nanotechnology Researchers Company with the trademark of Silver-pants for dressing the infected lacerations in diabetic patients.

According to the authorities of the company, nylon cloth and metallic silver nanopowder were used to synthesize the bandage. By using this product, the use of anti-biotic ointment will not be necessary.

Among other advantages of the bandage, the experts mentioned that the dressing can be replaced in 7 to 10 days, and its color will change when it needs to be changed.

The initial color of the bandage is grey while it turns white gradually. White color shows that the bandage must be replaced. Moreover, if there is infection in the wound, the silver loaded in the bandage is released gradually and heals the infection.

Reduction in the recovery time to one third and reduction in pain are among the other advantages of this product over the similar products without using nanotechnology.

This bandage is also used as underwear to prevent or to heal the infection. Silver-pants bandage has been presented to the hospitals and drugstores in the city of Tehran by Nanotechnology Researchers Company.
