Our Mission

Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University. We are committed to advancing the understanding and treatment of ocular disorders. Department scientists and clinical researchers collaborate to investigate the origins of ocular disease and devise new diagnostic and treatment modalities. As part of a world-renowned teaching hospital, our ophthalmologists in turn use these state-of-the-art modalities to provide patients with the best possible outcomes.

Our mission is to train future leaders in ophthalmology, whether in scientific investigation or patient care. The competitiveness of our residency program speaks to the commitment our faculty has to our residents and medical students.
