Visit historic Villa Montalvo for a guided tour of the internationally renowned Lucas Artists Residency Program. Residencies are offered in visual, literary, and performance art as well as design, music, culinary, and others. Also included on this trip are studio and home visits with two outstanding Saratoga artists excelling in their second acts in life.

Marin: Touched by the Genius of Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright–architect, interior designer, writer, and educator, placed his signature on California’s landscape, including the iconic Marin County Civic Center. Seventeen of his structures in California have been designated as most representative of his contribution to American culture. The day includes a guided tour of the Civic Center, a visit to a home designed by Wright and Green, and Xanadu Gallery which is housed in a historic Wright building on Maiden Lane.

Presidio Rising

Founded in 1776, the historic Presidio predates even the founding of San Francisco. Witness to remarkable history, and location of equally remarkable architecture, a sea change occurred in the mid 1990’s with the decommissioning of the army base and formation of the Presidio Trust. The Presidio continues a unique transformation and has been reborn as one of San Francisco’s cultural, artistic, historic and architectural jewels. Trip participants will explore some recent additions and revisit an old favorite.
