This paper, originally prepared for presentation at the Society of American Archivists 1997 Annual Meeting session, "Managing Organizational Records on the World-Wide Web: Making a Start," discusses initial efforts to identify and preserve the history and archival record of the World Wide Web at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center -- the first Web site in the United States.
