Now Hiring: Student Assistant - Dept. of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is seeking to hire an energetic and self-motivated individual to provide assistance with receiving, shipping, errands, copying and other clerical tasks.  This ongoing position requires approximately 4 hours per day.  Must include an AM shift between 9 and noon.  The candidate must be Federal Work Study authorized.

A summary of responsibilities for this position include:

Loading Dock - Receiving:
Record delivered packages in NeoPost system (training will be provided)
Manage NeoPost database and on-line catalog
Assist with delivery of large packages and inside deliveries of equipment
Troubleshoot errant delivery addresses and keep address list updated
 
Errands & Escort:
Deliver campus mail and run errands once each day M–Th
Escort visitors including speakers and candidates between interviews and meetings
Post notices on building doors including This Week in Chemistry (TWIC), Special Events, Shutdown, etc.
 
Shipping:
Act as the Department's shipper of packages
Fill out FedEX shipping invoices
 
Photocopy Services:
Assist front office and Admin staff with the photocopying as needed.
 
Other Duties as assigned
May include assistance with mail distribution, maintenance of mail directory, operate postage meter
 
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can take direction and has initiative, asks good questions, learns quickly and can balance competing priorities with a positive attitude.  The candidate should also possess strong organizational skills, paying close attention to detail, use sound judgment and be able to function well in a team environment.
