The main focus of my research is to develop a molecular-level understanding of structure-performance relationships in metal electrocatalysts and photocatalysts. The fundamental question I am trying to answer is what properties of a catalyst or what we called the genes that determine its reactivity. Answering this question is very important for tackling many pressing problems faced by our society, including national energy crisis, public safety, climate change, and so on.
