John Bargar. (SLAC, lead PI): Expertise in low-temperature geochemistry, biogeochemistry, and synchrotron-based x-ray spectroscopy, spectromicroscopy, and scattering techniques. Experience with laboratory and field systems. Research interests include biogeochemistry of redox active metals and light elements, structure and reactivity of biogenic nanominerals, and mineral-water interface geochemistry.
Sharon Bone. (SLAC): Postdoctoral researcher. Expertise in low-temperature geochemistry, redox processes, and synchrotron techniques.
Richard Bush. (DOE-LM): UMTRCA Project Manager at DOE-LM, Grand Junction Office. Expertise in geochemistry, hydrology, and uranium-contaminated site-management.
James Dynes. (CLS): Extensive expertise in STXM spectromicoscopy and light element X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
Scott Fendorf. (Stanford, co-PI): Extensive experience in metal biogeochemistry. He has examined microbially mediated and geochemical processes impacting the fate and transport of soil/sediment organic carbon, uranium, chromium, and arsenic, and iron. His research spans molecular (nm) to field (km) scales, and examines the coupling of biological, chemical, and physical (hydrologic) processes influencing metal fate.
Chris Francis. (Stanford, co-PI): Extensive laboratory and field expertise in evaluating the molecular, biogeochemical, and ecological aspects of microbial nitrogen and metal cycling in the environment.
Noémie Janot. (SLAC): Postdoctoral researcher. Expertise in low-temperature geochemistry, redox processes, and synchrotron techniques.
Morris Jones. (SLAC): Postdoctoral researcher. Expertise in biogeochemistry, electronchemistry, metal-organic aquatic chemistry, and organic chemistry.
Ravi Kukkadapu. (EMSL): Extensive expertise in Mössbauer spectroscopy.
Xavier Mayali. (LLNL): Expertise in SIP techniques and the molecular ecology and physiology of microorganisms and how they control carbon and nitrogen biogeochemistry. He applies 'omics and geochemical techniques (the NanoSIMS in particular) to link microbial phylogenetic structure and biogeochemical functions.
Donald Metzler. (DOE-EM): Moab project manager at DOE-EM Grand Junction site. Uranium-contaminated site-management
Dennis Nordlund. (SLAC): Expertise in light-element XAS, particularly carbon.
Per Persson. (Umea University, Sweden): Molecular-level studies of processes at mineral, organic, and bacterial surfaces that influence the biogeochemical cycles of elements. Per specializes in spectroscopic techniques including ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, XPS, synchrotron-based XAS, FTIR microspectroscopy and imaging, and wet-chemical and theoretical methods.
Tom Regier. (CLS): Extensive experience in soft X-ray synchrotron based techniques, including light element X-ray absorption spectroscopy and STXM spectromicoscopy.
Alfred Spormann. (Stanford, co-PI): Expertise in metabolic redox processes in biogeochemical systems with extensive knowledge of microbe mineral interactions as related to anaerobic respiration, including electrochemistry and microbial fuel cells.
Nancy Washton. (EMSL): Expertise in nuclear magnetic resonance techniques.
Sam Webb. (SLAC): Expertise in low-temperature geochemistry, biogeochemistry, and synchrotron-based x-ray spectroscopy and microprobe techniques.
Kenneth Williams. (LBNL): Expertise in biogeophysical monitoring methods; subsurface biogeochemical processes; novel remediation strategies, such as slow-release nutrient sources and organic carbon compounds.
