NOTE: Due to an upcoming move, Conservation Services has set the following deadlines for delivery of treatment and repair work:

Circulating/general collections:
August 1, 2016: Last day to send items for enclosures or boxes
August 15, 2016: Last day to send any circulating or general repair

Special collections/locked stacks materials:
April 1, 2016: Last day to send any flat paper, maps, posters, or photographs
July 1, 2016: Last day to send rare books or bound locked stacks materials
August 1, 2016: Last day for any enclosure or box requests

The Preservation department manages the long-term preservation of library collections for use in teaching, research, digital projects, and exhibitions around the world through the integrated work of three units:


Oversees all aspects of collections care including, environmental monitoring, integrated pest management, collection assessment, disaster response training, and preservation education.

Binding and Finishing

Processes library materials for circulation and shelving, including bindery services, shelf preparation, and marking.

Conservation Services

Provides conservation treatment, exhibit loan support, assessments, training, and consultation.
