PeopleSoft Successfully Split

August 3, 2015
We are pleased to announce that over the weekend of July 24-28 University IT’s PeopleSoft support team successfully split Stanford’s PeopleSoft instance into two separate applications to accommodate future infrastructure and tools changes.

This was a complex project, given the numerous integrations existing between PeopleSoft and other systems at Stanford. Nearly 100 individuals across the university participated in the split effort, representing a wide range of roles and offices. Below is a snapshot of the work performed:

  • More than 20,000 lines of code and 600 database objects were analyzed and modified.
  • More than 20 systems were evaluated for impact, and multiple applications were retrofitted.
  • During the length of the project, 26 environments were created.
  • During the systems integration testing, 990 test cases were compiled and executed.
  • During user acceptance testing, 3,324 test cases were created.
  • More than 400 reports for split impact analysis were analyzed.

University IT would like to thank the campus community for their patience and cooperation while various applications and services were down during the split process. While very few changes will be noticeable to end users, the system split puts us in a position to better manage and support the PeopleSoft functions behind Axess into the future.
