Laurence Baker is an economist interested in the organization and economic performance of the U.S. health care system. His research and academic interests include: the strengths and weaknesses of the U.S. health care system; U.S. health reform; the economics of health care technology adoption and use; and the changing organization of physician practices and hospitals, and how this affects costs and outcomes. He interests also include: changes in health insurance, and the design of health insurance plans; and the Medicare and Medicaid programs, their structure and operation, and economic issues related to their performance.
