Spiritual Care

At Stanford Children’s Health, exceptional care is nurturing care. We know that attending to the special spiritual and emotional needs of children and families is an important part of the healing process. The hospital’s first-floor Sanctuary is a space for families to find solace and support through quiet reflection or group ceremonies. A healing garden is adjacent to the Sanctuary, offering a meditative labyrinth and alcoves separated by hedges to provide tranquil areas and a sense of privacy.

Chaplains can offer compassionate listening and emotional support at any time during your hospitalization. If desired, our chaplains can provide you with spiritual support in the form of prayers or blessings, religious rituals such as baptisms or naming ceremonies, and rituals to honor your loved one at the end of life. Chaplains are also available to assist you in receiving the sacraments, observing your personal religious practices, and celebrating religious holidays
