Stanford's Restrictive Early Action deadline is November 1, but we understand some applicants may have difficulty completing their applications on time. Read more about our deadline extension policy and other accommodations.

Those students who live in areas that have been impacted by the recent natural disasters and are seeking an extension to the deadline should email our office at credentials@stanford.edu.

We understand that Puerto Rico and many islands in the Caribbean have been severely impacted in recent weeks. We encourage students from these areas to apply for Stanford’s Regular Decision round. Students may request an extension beyond the January 2 deadline, which we will grant on a case-by-case basis. Students should email credentials@stanford.edu to request an extension.

We also encourage students to review the College Board’s supports for students affected by recent hurricanes for rescheduled test dates and registration assistance.

Stanford will grant a fee waiver to any student for whom the application fee is a financial hardship. Please follow our fee waiver instructions.

As a practice, we have a grace period for accepting and processing supporting materials after the November 1 deadline. This practice extends to counselors and teachers in the affected areas.

For students unable to gather all supporting materials, such as letters of recommendation, we will review their files to the best of our ability and provide a decision. An additional option for students is to change their application plan to Regular Decision on or before December 1.
