Precipitation Gauge with Enhanced Measurement Capability
(Stanford Docket S97-070)

This automated electronic precipitation gauge provides instantaneous measurement of precipitation intensity, precipitation rate, and average drop size. A prototype has been built demonstrating the feasibility of this precipitation gauge design. When in use, water falls on a sensor, simple electronics process the sensor signals, and the results are available on a small digital display within a few seconds.

  1. Use descriptive title.
  2. Provide a short non-confidential description. This summary should be informative, but should NOT be detailed enough to allow a person skilled in your field to duplicate your results. For example, describe what the invention does rather than how it does it.
  3. Provide a one or two sentence non-confidential description of the current status of the research (e.g. prototype built, in vivo results in animal model, experimental results demonstrate the technology is X times better than current technologies). This section is optional.
  4. Provide a one or two sentence non-confidential description of ongoing work in the laboratory (e.g. studies to expand results to a new model, optimizing design). This section is optional.
  5. Identify potential applications.
  6. Highlight the invention's advantages and compare it to currently available technologies.
  7. List publications – references and/or URLs.
  8. List webpage for inventor, inventor's lab, or other media that describe or demonstrate the invention.
You may attach your technical paper abstract and submit everything via fax, mail, or e-mail.
