On behalf of Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), welcome to the Farm. Our mantra is Students First! At R&DE, our foundational belief is that students are never an interruption in our day – you are the reason we are here. We are committed to providing you with service excellence and an exceptional housing, dining, and retail café experience.

I invite you to fully explore R&DE’s wide-range of innovative programs and services. As Stanford’s largest auxiliary enterprise, we offer an array of first-rate student housing and dining options to meet the equally diverse needs and preferences of the Stanford graduate and undergraduate student body. Our variety of on-campus cafés, market, catering services, guest house, executive services, and conferences and meeting planning services are designed to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and the entire Stanford community.

R&DE champions a commitment to sustainability: from sourcing food that is local, organic, humane and fair trade from family-owned and/or sustainable farms and fisheries; using smart utility management systems to reduce cost; to cleaning with green products and progressing with zero-waste programs – we are reducing our ecological footprint.

We are pleased to offer you opportunities to collaborate with us through our Dining Ambassadors program and our sustainability, organic teaching garden, and nutrition and wellness internships. We take every opportunity to partner with student groups and to collaborate with academic departments on research. Through students’ participation in programs such as the Tasting Table, we continually develop new and innovative dishes in our dining halls. We invite you take advantage of the Cardinal Cooks program at the R&DE Teaching Kitchen @Stanford and learn the fundamentals needed to build culinary confidence, cook delicious meals and eat healthier. It is our hope that you will embrace these programs to develop healthy habits to practice throughout your lifetime.

In collaboration with the Culinary Institute of America, R&DE continues to lead the efforts of the Menus of Change University Research Collaborative to develop and implement groundbreaking strategies that motivate students toward a healthier, more sustainable, plant-forward diet.

We are currently undertaking the largest project in Stanford’s history. In collaboration with our campus partners, R&DE has completed exterior construction and began interior construction on four 10-story buildings at the new Escondido Village Graduate Residences (EVGR) that will provide housing for 2,423 graduate students. EVGR is set to open in the fall of 2020 and will feature a biergarten, café and multipurpose room.

R&DE’s workforce is as richly diverse in composition as is the student community we support at Stanford. Accordingly, diversity and inclusion are essential and mission-critical for R&DE and Stanford. As such, I lead my team in fostering and maintaining an institutional culture in which all constituents are treated equally and with respect. R&DE’s commitment to these principles is evident in our day-to-day behaviors and reinforced in our Core Values pyramid.
