Quote of the Day-Joe Biden (of Course)

Last night at the Radio and Television Correspondent's dinner, Joe Biden called himself the first Irish-Catholic Vice President in the history of the United States of America and Barack Obama ....

"the first African-American in the history of the United States of America".

Yes indeed.

It seems the gaffe has been missed by the media. In the above video it comes in the early part of the speech at about 1:50.

Hey Gibbs-What About That Sestak Bribe?

Robert (Jokeman) Gibbs

Hat tip to American Spectator

Here is the big question: Did someone in the White House offer Joe Sestak (D-PA) a government position if he would drop out of the race challenging Senator Arlen Specter for the Pennsylvania Senate seat-in violation of the law?

http://spectator.org/archives/2010/03/16/specter-opens-door-on-white-ho

That question has been posed multiple times by ABC's White House correspondent Jake Tapper and Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett to White House Press Spokesman (and professional comedian) Robert Gibbs.

March 9, 2010- "I don't know."

March 11, 2010-" I don't know."

So, tell us, Bob. What do you know, and when will you know it?

"I don't know."

Student Government at UC Berzerkley Passes Measure Urging Divestiture From Israel

Well, the little rascals at UC Berzerkley (The UCB Student Government) are preparing for their future careers as activists and Democrats by passing an earth-shaking measure calling for UC divestiture from Israel-and any company that does business with them.

http://www.asuc.org/documentation/view.php?type=bills&id=2017

"Whereas....blah blah blah, woof woof woof, quack quack, quack."

Notice the line that they are not taking any sides in the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Oh no.

I recken the parents of students at Berzerkly must feel real sure that their money is being well spent as their kids learn everything they need to know to succeed in the real world. Do you think maybe the student government will also call for divestiture from any company that is doing business with Iran? I mean, c'mon all you professors up there at UC Berzerkley! Tell those kids about the evils going on in Iran, why don't you?

Why don't you?

How did that song go?

"Teach...teach them well..."

Congress Shows Us How to Reduce Our Debt

News item:

According to the Congressional Budget Office (using figures supplied by the Democrats), the new health care bill will cost $940 billion, but reduce the national debt by $138 billion over 10 years.

So if you are in debt, here's how you can reduce your debt (according to Nancy Pelosi and friends).

Take that vacation you've always dreamed about.

Stay at a 5-star hotel

Get ya a new Rolls Royce.

Yes sireee! That's the Congressional formula to reduce yer debt. It works every time!

OC Human Rights Commission Lauds UC-Irvine's handling of the February 8 Event

The below letter appears on the front page of the UC-Irvine web site. It is from the politically-correct Orange County Human Rights Commission. It raises some interesting points.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.chancellor.uci.edu/100312_ochrc.php

One of the points that the letter raises is that Campus Police met with members of the Muslim Student Union prior to the event and explained the consequences of any disruptions. Indeed, when the disruptions took place, it all looked so organized. A student would stand up, shout at the ambassador and walk into the waiting arms of a campus cop. It also appeared to witnesses, such as myself, that the outbursts were being orchestrated by MSU member(s) texting each other. The MSU maintains that the outbursts were "spontaneous", and thus, not an operation by the MSU as a whole. (The MSU as an organization could possibly suffer repercussions as a result of the disruptions.) It is interesting that the OCHRC, perhaps inadvertently, in point 6 of the letter to the chancellor, described the disruption as "organized and systematic". Of course, that description by the OCHRC doesn't make it true, but it does add to the debate on that important point-planned or spontaneous?

Another point that the MSU and their defenders raise is that they did not "shut down" the ambassador's speech, and that the ambassador was able to complete his speech (only after the protesters left the hall).

One of the videos going around, particularly one in the possession of Stand With Us, shows the protesters outside the building and their leader telling them that they had successfully "shut it down" and to proceed to the Cross Cultural Center for a "debriefing". It can be viewed below:

So what was the intent of the MSU protesters?

Speaking of the CCC, I also note that I recently sent a copy of my blog response to the CCC director's letter regarding racial incidents on UC campuses to them suggesting that they also show concern for their Jewish students. Since the CCC is the de facto "hqs" of the MSU, it is not surprising that I never got a response.

I also noted that the OCHRC took a few gratuitous slaps at those who have been critical of the university's handling of this situation over the years. I am not surprised. I once wrote a letter to their previous director, an empty suit named Rusty Kennedy, who wrote back and lambasted me. That's OK. As far as I am concerned the OCHRC doesn't even exist. They are nothing more than a useless organization feeding at the public trough and wasting tax payers' money.

I do wonder, however, what ever happened to Rusty since his name no longer appears on the OCHRC website/letter. Maybe he fell off the rack.

UC-Irvine Jewish Students Make Their Case to the Student Government

Hat tip to the Jewish students at UCI who made this tape and the OC Jewish Experience

A group of Jewish students at UCI have made their case to the ASUCI (Associated Students of UCI). This same group had passed a resolution urging that no punitive action be taken against protesters who disrupted the Israeli ambassador to the US, Michael Oren's speech on February 8.

Hitler in Pakistan and India

The below disturbing article comes from Der Spiegel Online (in English). It concerns the seeming popularity of Germans in the India/Pakistan region-for the wrong reasons.

http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,683966,00.html

This is not an isolated story. I remember a couple of years ago when German scholar Matthias Kuentzel came to speak at UC-Irvine. (Kuentzel is a supporter of Israel.) He told of traveling in the Middle East and being greeted with enthusiam by people he met-assuming he was a supporter of Hitler-which he decidedly is not. (Yes, I know that India and Pakistan are not in the Middle East.)

That should not come as a surprise. Hitler's Mein Kampf is still a best-seller in the Middle East-as is the fabricated Protocols of the Elders of Zion-which millions accept as factual. It is undeniable that anti-Jewish feeling is strong in the Middle East-even though few Jews still remain after most were driven out post-1948.

This is a facet of the Middle East conflict that must never be forgotten.
