Three North Carolina Democrats are likely to oppose Obamacare.  One, Bob Etheridge, is on the fence.  Help push him into the "no" column.

Rep. Bob Etheridge
    D.C. Office: (202) 225-4531
    Raleigh: 1-888-262-6202 (BOB-NC02)

Etheridge already has two declared opponents, and a "yes" vote this weekend could draw a third.

Release of the CBO fairy tale puts the Obamacare vote on a schedule for a Sunday showdown, and the collection of Hamlets/Machiavells who are Democrats on the fence fail to realize that the longer they take to declare their votes, the greater the political damage they suffer.  If they eventually topple to Pelosi this weekend, they will have succeeded only in drawing enormous attention to their curved heels.  If they do so for a special deal, the fury of their constituents at being thought purchasable will be extraordinary.  Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa of California's tortured Central Valley, where environmentalists have succeeded in shutting off water to this agricultural giant, seem to be in the latter group, trying to get some waiver from the Endangered Species Act which would never survive reconciliation in the Senate, but again demonstrating in the process their utter impotence and incompetence throughout the Delta smelt dispute.

Cardoza and Costa could easily have survived the coming GOP wave had they just said "no" to Obamacare and had they truly been working on the smelt issue all along.  But they are careerist Democrats, and their maneuverings are as predictable and cynical as they will be unavailing in the November blowback.

Altmire, Boccieri, and Space, on the other had, could have held on to their seats and might still if they simply and firmly say "no."  Their districts are "no" districts --solidly "no" districts.  Pelosi cannot offer them anything to compensate for the self-inflicted political wounds they are receiving every day.  Politico says Boccieri received 10,000 e-mails.  Far more I suspect given that this site and the sites of my colleagues Bennett, Gallagher, Prager and Medved have generated more than a million e-mails in the last few days.

Worse than e-mails, though, Boccieri's Hamlet act has given his opponent Jim Renacci a huge visibility push, just as Altmire's dithering has boosted Mary Beth Buchanan.  The contributions are pouring into Renacci and Buchanan, and if either Boccieri or Altmire vote "yes" they will be identified as a national priority for defeat for the next six months, and the MoveOn.org gang will say "good riddance."

There are others in the Altmire/Boccieri camp, like Zack Space, who are just beginning to feel the political heat that would come with a "yes" vote.  They have thus far avoided most of the national pressure, but a "yes" vote on the "Slaughter Solution" or the final bill itself will brand them.  The NRCC will coordinate the identification of the Democrats who voted to destroy the health care system, but even if the House GOP didn't, the new media will slice and dice the vote list.  Some sad sack will think that if they declare "no" at the last minute because Nancy Pelsoi gave them a hall pass that they will have a defense against the political payback on November 2 --another example of old thinking in the new age.

Everyone knows every trick and nobody is fooled.  That is what is so amazing about this debate and drama.  The Congressmen presuming to radically change American healthcare aren't even smart enough to know that  we know what they are doing.

Keep calling and keep e-mailing.  Keep the contributions flowing to Renacci and Buchanan.  There is still a chance that Altmire and Boccieri and those like them will wake up to the fact they are nine months from unemployment or a fourth tier job in a lame duck Administration and declare their opposition in time for that declaration to make a difference.

The Washington Post's Chris Cillizza notes that "Congress' approval rating is starting to approach historic lows in two new national polls," and that was before the Pelosi Democrats began their unconstitutional imitation of a banana republic's legislature.  The trend towards a historic wipeout of House Dems is unmistakable, which may be why no announcement of a firm date for a vote on Obamacare has yet been made.

The Politico's lead story on the struggle over the bill notes three Dems in particular as the focus of enormous pressure from the president and the Speaker: Ohio's Mary Kaptur, Pennsylvania's Jason Altmire and New York's Mike McMahon.

Kaptur has long declared herself "pro-life" but appears poised to shed that camouflage.  Altmire and McMahon both voted "no" last year, and a "yes" vote now immediately puts them at the top of the national target list in November.

Here are the numbers for all three:

Marcy Kaptur:
    D.C.:  (202) 225-4146
    Toledo: (800)964-4699 or (419) 259-7500
    E-mail (use zip code 43604).

Jason Altmire:
    D.C.: 202-225-2565
    Aliquippa: 724-378-0928
    Natrona Heights: 724-226-1304

Michael McMahon:
    D.C.: (202) 225-3371
    Staten Island: (718) 351-1062
    Brooklyn: (718) 630-5277
    E-mail (Use zip code 10306).

Today's virtual fundraiser is for Mary Beth Buchanan who is challenging Altmire.  Buchanan is a former United States Attorney for western PA, and you can contribute online here.

There is no better way to get Altmire's attention than with a contribution to Buchanan and a note to Altmire promising more where that came from if he votes for Obamacare this week or next.

And there's a list of additional targets for your activism two posts below.

Please start with the "Say No To Obamacare" button in the top right hand corner of this site as it e-mails your Member of Congress and automatically is sent on to the 58 Blue Dog Democrats as well.

Interview serious people about the serious issues now. Count votes later.

Here's the transcript of the interview I conducted today with Stanford Law Professor Michael McConnell --formerly a judge on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Judge McConnell makes the very convincing case that the Pelosi procedure in the House --the "Slaughter solution"-- is simply and obviously unconstitutional.  We discuss how, when and where such a challenge will arrive.  The Democrats who hope that the issue will disappear this summer are using sham rules that will guarantee that the process remains front and center throughout the seven months of campaigning ahead.

Here's the transcript of the interview I conducted with House GOP Whip Eric Cantor.  Cantor's view of the Pelosi jam down:  "[I]t is utterly amazing that we are even discussing such a maneuver."  He's right, of course, and the Democrats's chorus of "process doesn't matter" is complete proof that it does.  The Constitution matters to everyone except the Obama-Pelosi Democrats.

The transcripts of my conversations today with Mitt Romney and Senate GOP Whip Jon Kyl will be posted here later.

Democrats who vote for this bill will be defeated in huge numbers.  Those who pretend that the "Slaughter solution" is other than an assault on the Constitution's clear language won't have a chance.  The American people are fully engaged and deeply appalled by these shenanigans.  No amount of spin can possibly change their impression of the fundamental error of what the Democrats are doing.

The assault on the Constitution --the base trickery of the rules-- will become an even bigger burden than the already self-destrutive Obamacare.  "Repeal the Deal" will be the only campaign slogan every Republican needs between now and November.

See the posts below for the numbers to call and the incumbents to pressure.

House Democratic leadership seems to have lost its collective mind with the embrace of the so-called "Slaughter Solution" that will "deem passed" the Senate bill without a straight vote.

This outrageous sleight-of-hand suspend the Constitution's clear requirements.  Every House member who votes "yes" on this rule not only votes for the Senate bill with all of its special interest provisions, they also vote to push the Constitution aside because the Speaker and the SEIU threatened them.

Every senator who goes along with the charade should it pass will also be part of the Kangaroo Congress of 2010.  The class of 2012 will be defending their actions from this month  30 months from now, and those on the ballot in the fall can expect every ad to remind votersof this assault on the clear language of the Constitution.

UPDATE:

In the event you missed it, key Democratic blogger Nate Silver posted a guide to the House Democrats facing the most pressure on Obamacare.  Here are four names from that list and their D.C. and District office numbers:

Georgia's John Barrow:

The strange alliance between hard left San Fran Nan and the Chicago gang headquartered in the White House is pushing hard on first and second term Members of Congress to not only vote for a half trillion in Medicare cuts, the Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase and Gator Aid, but to do so while suspending the Constitution in the belief that voters are too stupid to notice.

This is political mass suicide.

As noted in yesterday's column, this vote will not only sear scores of Democrats from swing districts, it will also cripple the Democratic Party for years to come, leaving it responsible for every failure of the suddenly top-down driven American health care system.  As the Medicare cuts roll out, Medicare Advantage disappears, doctors refuse patients and the tax burden pushes millions from employees with health care into independent contractor status and looking through the so-called exchanges for plans that include the doctors they used to see, every single complaint, grievance and system failure will rightfully lay against the Democrats.

Many of them won't survive the fall campaign to hear them.  Take Ohio's John Boccieri for example.  The Canton Democrat is allegedly pro-life, but the Senate bill subsidizes abortion and eliminated the House bills provisions concerning freedom of conscience for providers. Boccieri refused to show up for the underwhelmingly attended rally led by the president in Ohio yesterday, but House Whip James Clyburn said that Boccieri, a "no" vote in the fall, will be switching over to vote yes now  --demonstrating not only that he's easily pushed around by San Fran Nan, but that his first vote wasn't an honest one but designed for cover.

Unless Clyburn is spinning, that is, attempting to get Boccieri stampeded into voting yes.  If Boccieri is reading his e-mail, he got this one which I was copied on:

Dear Congressman Boccieri, I have a 1976 Jeep CJ-7 gathering dust in my garage. I hear you are going to change your vote on health care and vote to approve the cram-down using this sham reconciliation scheme. If you vote for Obamacare, my Jeep is going on Craig's List and proceeds will go to whoever your opponent will be in November's general election. Whatever the President promised you if you loose in November, a job in the administration, the ambassadorship to Norway, that will be the price your constituency will know you were paid. A bought and paid for man in the service of a one term President.
Don't do it, don't sell out.

That was from a Los Angeles area resident, and it drives home that the 2010 House races are already nationalized, just as Scott Brown's race was.  Democrats and their allies are telling their embattled "moderate" members that the pressure will relax after the president signs the nightmare bill passed by sleight-of-hand, that voters will forget, that the story will change, but that is absurd --it is health care the Dems are fooling around with for political purposes.  A family encounters the health system almost every week, and often every day for extended periods of time.  Each "touch" of the system ahead will be a remembrance that Democrats rolled the dice and broke the best system in the world.  When the final tally shows up, every "yes" vote goes on a permanent post on every blog and the ReverseTheVote.org website gets redone to target voter fury equally at the vulnerable Democrats who provided the margin for San Fran Nan.  The issue sweeps out dozens of incumbent Democrats in the fall, but it lives on to burden redistricted House members and every senator up in 2012.  It is a lousy bill, a poisoning of our health care system, and Democrats are fighting to the last man standing to pass it --a fact that will never be forgotten by anyone watching right now.

"There goes John Boccieri," someone will be saying at a Canton Timken football game a couple of years out.  "He used to be a congressman until he got used by Nancy Pelosi and voted for the Cornhusker kickback and to screw the old folks."

The same will be said about scores of Democrats like James Oberstar who lost their spine and their pro-life camouflage when push came to shove.  Rarely has voter intensity been at this level, and the opponents far overshadow the Democratic operatives pushing for a yes vote.  This sort of conflict is going to "die down?"  The furious opposition will simply get very cold and very determined.  The Boccieris have to realize that if they are thinking about this at all.

There are some signs that the Pelosi push is having trouble reaching 216  --read to the middle of this Politico piece where Demcorats Driehaus, Carney and Costello are signalling "no" votes-- but the union brass knuckles are coming out, and the nutroots are threatening primary challenges etc, even though the idea of a serious primary challenge with this little time over this issue is laughable.

What matters most for the next six days is that the center and the right in the country continue to pound home their intense opposition and their commitment to carry that opposition into November, directed in campaign contributions and volunteer GOTV against the Democrats who vote for this terrible bill passed through trickery.

Here are the Democrats I am urging you contact personally after you hit the "Say No To Obamacare" button in the top corner of the website.  Call their district offices if you cannot get through to the D.C. numbers.  Star with John Boccieri.

Boccieri's likely opponent is Jim Renacci.  Before you call or email Boccieri, make a $25 or $50 contribution to Renacci via his website, and then be sure to tell Boccieri's staff that you did so and there's more where that came from if Boccieri changes his vote and supports Pelosi's assault on the Constitution, seniors, and the health care system.

Boccieri's numbers:

(800) 826-9015

D.C.:  (202) 225-3876

Canton: (330) 489-4414

House Democratic Whip James Clyburn has identified four Democrats who voted against Obamacare in the fall who are preparing to vote for it now:

Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 9:43 AM

My Washington Examiner column looks at the nightmare ahead for Democrats if the jam down Obamacare this week --one that doesn't end in 2010, but which continues into the redistricted districts of 2012 and far beyond.

But the president and Nancy Pelosi will push as hard as they can this very week, so start with a the "Say No To Obamacare" box in the upper-right nad corner of this page that will send an e-mail to your Member of Congress and then automatically send it to the 58 so-called "Blue Dog Democrats."  You might inlcude a link to this Wall Street Journal story on the polling showing overwhelming opposition to Obamacare in swing districts.

Then stop by the website of Tim Burns, the GOP candidate in the special election to replace Jack Murtha, and give him some bucks.  A wave of support for him will signal all vulnerable Democrats how the money bombs will drop if they vote for Obamacare.

Then the same drill from Friday:

Hone in on these two new targets, identified by Jay Cost's reporting:  New York's Tim Bishop (NY-1) and Arizona's Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-8).

Bishop is being challenged by Chris Cox, Richard Nixon's grandson and a formidable campaigner and fundraiser.  Chris is demanding Bishop be held accountable on the Obamacare vote.  Please consider a $25 or $50 contribution to Chris via his website, and then call or e-mail Bishop and let him know you contributed to Cox and there's more where that came from if Bishop votes for Obamacare.  Bishop's contact info:

D.C. Office: Phone: (202) 225-3826
                   Fax: (202) 225-3143
Corum Office: (631) 696-6500
Southhampton Office: (631) 259-8450
Email

Giffords represents the Tucson area has drawn many primary opponents, but the frontrunner is probably  former state senator and Army officer Jonathan Paton.  Again, if you can spare $25 or $50 to Paton's campaign, follow up that contribution with a call to Giffords' offices with the same message as above: There's more where that came from if you vote for Obamacare.

Gifford's contact info:

D.C. Office: Phone: (202) 225-2542
                   Fax: (202) 225-0378
Tucson Office: Phone: (520) 881-3588
Sierra Vista Office: Phone: (520) 459-3115
E-mail

Wait, there's more.

Colorado's 4rth Congressional District should be a Republican seat and my friend Tom Lucero is running to take the seat back from Betsy Markey.  Please donate to Tom and then let Markey know you don't live in her district but that you will be sending more support to Lucero if she votes for Obamacare.  Markey's contact info:

D.C. Office: Phone: 202.225.4676
                   Fax: 202.225.5870
Fort Collins Office: 970.221.7110
Greeley Office:  970.351.6007
Lamar Office: 719.931.4003
Sterling Office: 970.522.0203
E-mail
And that brings us to the Buckeyes.  At least five of Ohio's Democrats are on the fence and may vote against the bill.  Please call them all.  Zach Space especially has been swamped by calls and I urge you to continue to contact him again and again, and to find everyone you know who lives in his district or Ohio to do the same.  Then repeat for Charlie Wilson and the others:

To do everything requested in this post would take less than 90 minutes and cost less than $100.  It is focused and effective activism against Obamacare.  The more these phones ring and the e-mail inboxes fill up, the more these Members have to consider that a yes vote on Obamacare may cost them their jobs in November.  The president and the speaker will be leaning on them, but what will either of them do for these men and women when, come next January, they are out of a job because of a vote for a risky and wildly unpopular scheme that cuts Medicare by a half trillion dollars?

The Monday morning column from Clark Judge:

Betting Against the Smart Money
By Clark S. Judge, managing director, White House Writers Group (www.whwg.com <http://www.whwg.com> ) and chair, Pacific Research Institute (www.pacificresearch.org <http://www.pacificresearch.org> )

As the week begins, the smart money in Washington is betting that the House will adopt the Senate health care package and send it to the President by week’s end.   Count me skeptical.

The postponement of the President’s Far Eastern trip was a sign of White House anxiety that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi could score a victory without the President’s ever-present help.  But by the weekend some in the media seemed to doubt that the Speaker could win even with the President working in the wings. A front-page story in Saturday’s Washington Post unhelpfully (for the Democrats, see here: http://tiny.cc/IvqUd <http://tiny.cc/IvqUd>  ) noted that numerous voting deadlines had come and gone during the saga. Was this one just one more?
