New York's mosque and Imam's accounts frozen

NEW YORK: The accounts of one of the major mosque of New York, named Al-Falah Mosque which was located in the Corona district of New York, and was inhabited by majority of Pakistani and Bangladeshi citizens, has been frozen.

The personal accounts of the Imam (chief administrator) have also been sealed along with. The mosque was frequented by various preaching delegations from Pakistan and Bangladesh, and they also held religious congregations.

The decision was so sudden that, it transpired on the mosque administration only when they went to the bank for their daily transactions, where they were informed of the "federal freeze" on mosque's funds as well as personal account of the chief (administrator) Imam, Mr. Hafiz Piracha.

According to reliable sources, the mosque was under a strict vigil since a year, because of frequent visits of preaching delegations from all over the Islamic World.

However, no arrests have been made so far.

These preachers bring bad name to the country by using American mosques as hostels while they are on business and pleasure visits to the US. They should pay for their own expenses rather to be a burden on local population. Moreover, their old fashioned preaching styles do not attract educated Americans.

The beginning made from the Muslim clerics is now heading towards the Christian fanatics in America and the worst fanatics in Israel. We just have to wait and watch what the future will unfold to the world at large.

The irony is that such medieval acts are taking place in an era that is known as the beacon of tolerance and enlightenment. Clearly the fault line lies in the media.

There was a time when people used to gather around a sage person and listen to his pious and insightful discourses. Today, the media has replaced these sages and learned scholars. One can listen to the sage advice of world's renowned scholars. It is a writing on the wall for the rigid and trouble-maker clerics to shutter their doors and engage themselves in more useful pursuits or face disgrace and humiliation at the hands of law enforcers.
