A Brief Message to America--Repost

Once again I am digging into the Radarsite vaults and returning with an oldie, but goodie from Roger W. Gardner.  This one originally was posted on January 27, 2008.  -- Findalis
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
A note from Radarsite: This short essay on America garnered more controversy than any other article on Radarsite either before or after. It had begun by my asking myself how "Old Blood and Guts" Patton would address our current generation if he were still around. Thus this Brief Message to America was written with the sound of General Patton's inimitable voice in my ears. I received so much hate mail from this small article that it spawned a whole new article just to deal with the spiteful comments, which was subsequently published by the Chicago Sun Times. I hope you will find the time to also read this follow-up piece. We live in interesting times, don't we? - rg
----------------------------------------------------

America -- it's time to stop what you're doing for a minute and take a good long look in the mirror.

You have allowed other people to delineate your image for too long now. You have uncritically accepted their skewed portraiture as truth and bought into their self-serving lies. You have been bullied by cold-hearted cynics and wrong-headed critics into believing that you are something that you are not, and never could have been.

It's time to stop all that now, America. It's time to remember who the hell you are. In the words of our late great Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick, "Americans need to face up to the truth about themselves, no matter how pleasant it is."

You seem to have forgotten that the world is weak and envious of your strength. They want what you have and deride you because they need you. But your detractors are small and petty and vicious; and you are great and beautiful.

You are nothing less than the light of the world, and the hope of all its people. Without your stalwart protection and the selfless sacrifice of your courageous fathers and sons who have fought and died on foreign soil to protect other people's liberties, the glorious achievements of this whole wondrous Western Civilization would have long ago crumbled into dust and been trampled under the feet of the barbarians.

So listen up now, America. The world needs you once again. Take a good hard look at yourself. And stand tall and be proud. You are quite simply the bravest, most noble, most generous, most high-minded and judicious nation the world has ever known.

And we love you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I do wish our current President Barack Obama would read those words. Instead of showing the world the strength of the United States (spiritual, moral, and physical), our President has shown himself and this nation to be morally weak, without the resolve to lead the world (passing on that responsibility to Europe at best, the UN at worst).  I think that old Blood and Guts Patton would have slapped Obama silly for his cowardice!

On a more personal note:

If you enjoy reading these old posts of Roger's let us here at Radarsite know.  Just use the comment form below.  Hopefully you do enjoy reading them and want us to continue to repost other fine articles by Roger.

Zionism=Nazism-The Great Lie

Gary Fouse

This essay first appeared on Grizzly Groundswell

Nazi propaganda minister Josef Goebbels
He would be proud.

The opponents of Israel has been pushing the idea that Israel is taking on the characteristics of the Nazis as they fight to defend themselves. In actuality, Israel's enemies don't really recognize Israel's right of self-defense since they regard her as an illegitimate state. The charge of Nazism by Israel/Zionists is not a new one, but it is being used with greater frequency in the light of recent fighting between the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) and the terrorist groups, Hezbollah in Lebanon in 2006, and Hamas in Gaza at the turn of the year 2008-2009. The idea of comparing Israel to Nazism is absurd on its face.

Much of the accusation is based on charges that in both of the above conflicts, Israel deliberately targeted civilians for death and, in effect, is attempting to commit genocide against the Palestinian people-a charge ridiculous in itself. It is true that civilians died in both conflicts. Civilian casualties in war are eventually inevitable. In Israel's case, they went to great lengths to avoid innocent casualties even as both Hezbollah and Hamas used the tactic of fighting from behind human shields in apartment complexes, schools and hospitals. In effect, they wanted their civilians to die so as to show a willing international media how bad the Israelis were. The media complied-virtually ignoring the causes of both conflicts. In the case of the Israeli incursion into southern Lebanon, it was a result of Hezbollah ambushing and kidnapping two soldiers from across the border. (After the fighting, those soldiers bodies were returned, dead, of course and showing signs of severe torture). In the case of Gaza, it was in response to hundreds of rockets being launched into southern Israel, many of which landed in schoolyards. During the resultant conflicts, the international media paid scant attention to the above as well as Hezbollah rockets lobbed into Haifa in 2006 forcing that city's residents into bomb shelters.

It is also conveniently ignored that in both conflicts, Israel dropped millions of leaflets warning residents in certain areas to clear out. In addition, automatic phone calls were made to residents giving them the same warnings. Contrary to Hamas' propaganda, the Israeli allowed outside humanitarian aid into Gaza during the conflict.

The Nazis never did those things. To be honest, neither did the Allies in World War II. German and Japanese cities were leveled knowing that tens of thousands of civilians would be killed. We were in effect, trying to destroy the will of the Japanese and German people to continue the war. I myself have visited Hiroshima, and it is a profoundly moving experience. This does not mean that I am condemning what we did in World War II. We were fighting for our very survival against two evil regimes that were committing horrible atrocities in the lands they had conquered and occupied.

But back to the comparison between Nazis and Israelis/Zionists. Some questions are in order.

Are the Israelis persecuting their Arab minority living within Israel proper-as the Nazis did to the Jews? No. Arabs/Muslims in Israel enjoy more freedom that they would in any of the neighboring Arab dictatorships. Have Israeli Arabs ever had to wear distinctive clothing in Israel marking them as Muslims or non-Jews?

Has there ever been an Israeli version of Kristalnacht against Arabs or Muslim in Israel? No.

Kristalnacht-November 1938-burning of synagogue in Michelsberg.

In contrast, ask yourself whatever happened to the centuries-old Jewish communities in Arab lands after 1948. The fact is that they were driven out. Today, only a few thousand remain here and there. Yemen's last remaining Jews are trying to get out of that country-where they had lived for centuries- as fast as they can due to persecution.

Do Israeli newspapers and magazines contain perverted images of Arabs or Muslims similar to Julius Streicher's Der Stuermer of the Nazi era? No-but neighboring mainstream newspapers in the Arab world still portray Jews in cartoons similar to Steicher's anti-Semitic images. Here are just a few examples:

Nazi newspaper "Der Stuermer"-headline reads, "Jewish murder plan against non-Jewish humanity uncovered."

The Jewish Blood Libel
Web site of the Arab European League, February 2, 2006

Al-Watan (Oman)
February 3, 2004

There are hundreds more like these that are regularly printed in the Arab media. They are readily available on the Internet. Have you ever heard about Jews rioting over these cartoons?

Who are the real Nazis?

Did the Nazis allow Jews to continue in the Reichstag? Or the universities? The answer is no. Are the Israelis excluding Arabs from teaching or engaging in politics? No. Are the Israelis forcibly taking over Arab businesses and giving them to Israelis? No. Are the Israelis burning down mosques in Israel? No.

Is there anything in Israel comparable to the so-called Nuremberg Laws of 1935 which formally encoded the Jews' status as second class citizens? No. Israel is a democracy, where the rights of minorities are protected-unlike its neighbors, none of whom are democracies.

Do the Israelis punish their citizens for marrying across ethnic or religious lines? No-but Muslims do-they forbid a Muslim woman from marrying a non-Muslim. The penalty is death. That may not be encoded in the legal code of any Muslim nation, but it is part and parcel of Islam. In contrast, Jewish women intermarry all the time.

Eisenach 1940-The sign says, "I am a race-defiler"

Aryan woman and Jewish man in Nazi Germany (same wording on sign)

Other than retaliating or trying to stop armed aggression against them from their neighbors, what countries has Israel invaded and occupied as did Germany, which took over almost all of Europe? True, they have gone into Lebanon in an attempt to defeat those who were at war with them and trying to deny their right to exist, but there is no Israeli desire to make Lebanon part of Israel. Had not Syria, Jordan and Egypt not attempted to destroy Israel in 1967, they would not have lost the Golan Hts, West Bank and the Sinai, which Israel occupied as buffer zones. Can anyone seriously suspect that Israel wants to take over Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and all the other nations of the Middle East? Along those lines, did Nazi Germany ever negotiate peace treaties with any neighboring countries by which they gave up disputed land? No.

Had the Arab world accepted the 1948 UN decision to partition the Palestine area into two states, which Israel accepted, probably none of this conflict would have resulted. The Arab world rejected it and immediately went to war-and lost. The hatred coming from that humiliation has existed ever since.

The fact is that Israel is simply trying to exist as an independent Jewish state-where minority religions are tolerated to this day. Instead, they are faced with a hostile Arab world which refuses to allow the presence of a non-Muslim nation the size of New Jersey to exist in its midst-notwithstanding the historical existence of the three major religions in the Holy Land.

Let's compare the start of World War II with the wars that Israel has engaged in. In 1939, after taking over Austria and Czechoslovakia, Hitler manufactured a hoax to justify his invasion of Poland. A group of operatives were sent to the German-Polish border- a place called Gleiwitz, where they "stormed" a German radio site, left a few bodies behind in Polish uniforms (actually concentration camp prisoners) and made a fake broadcast. That led to the invasion of Poland which Hitler described as a self defense response. In contrast, Israel's wars against its neighbors have truly been in self defense including the last two incursions into Lebanon and Gaza. Unlike Gleiwitz, Israel had two soldiers truly kidnapped at the Israel-Lebanon border-who were eventually tortured and killed, and in the case of Gaza, Israel was legitimately responding to hundreds of rockets being launched from Gaza by Hamas-a terrorist organization which in its own charter, rejects any negotiation and calls for the destruction of Israel and establishment of an Islamic state. Yet American apologists like the discredited ex-professor Norman Finklestein, himself of Jewish heritage, propagate the lie to university audiences that Israel invaded Gaza because Hamas was becoming "too moderate" and "a real partner for peace". (He said that in my presence at UC-Irvine in January 2009.)

Much more importantly, have the Israelis set up death camps, where their enemies or non-Jews-specifically Muslims-have been systematically exterminated? No. Yet, their enemies charge them with "genocide". Why does not the world cry out over the Hama massacre in Syria in 1982 when the Syrian army bombarded the town of Hama while fighting elements of the Muslim Brotherhood resulting in an estimate of anywhere from 7-40,000 deaths? Where is the world's memory of the Black September massacre when Jordan expelled or killed thousands of Palestinians?

Do Jews in synagogues call out for "death to Muslims" or anyone else? No. Is Israel trying to exterminate the Arab/Muslim race? Of course not; it would be impossible to begin with.

One of the most disgusting aspects of the anti-Israel campaign is the insistence of many-especially in the Arab world- that the Holocaust never happened-or was greatly exaggerated. In a region where Hitler's "Mein Kampf" is still a best seller, as well as the notorious anti-Semitic forgery, "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", many leaders are engaging in this ultimate of canards. They ignore the historical evidence of an era that is more well-documented than virtually any other. They ignore the images of the death camps once they were liberated. They ignore the testimony of the Nuremberg trials. They even ignore the confessions of the commander of Auschwitz, Rudolf Hoess, who actually wrote his memoirs describing what happened as he was awaiting his execution in Poland after the war. Even a national leader, Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, subscribes to this mad idea as he and so many others plan their own "final solution" to the Jewish problem.

This is the real Holocaust. This is what real Nazis did.

This is what the Allies discovered when they conquered Germany

Who are the real Nazis of today?

Speaking of Nazis, it should be pointed out that during the war years, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was Hitler's guest in Berlin, from where he made anti-Semitic broadcasts to the Middle East urging his listeners to purge and drive out the Jews. More importantly, he even helped organize a Muslim SS Division in Bosnia, which made their own contributions to the Final Solution in that region.

Hitler and his ally, al-Husseini in Berlin

Who are the real Nazis?
The charge of Nazism and genocide is not one to be made lightly. To charge the survivors of the Holocaust is unconscionable. Yet, that is what Israel's enemies
do and successfully at that. They have convinced many in the Western World that Israel is no better than Nazi Germany; thus, they argue it does not deserve to exist. No doubt there are many in the West who will accept these lies. After all, so many in Europe are intimidated by an aggressive and radical Muslim immigrant presence, and after all, we need that Arab oil, don't we? So why not accept the lie that Israel is just another evil nation that should be eliminated so we can all live in peace? What naivete.

A more accurate argument would be that Israel is the lone democracy surrounded by Nazis.

Much Ado About Jerusalem!

By Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Or Pardon Me Can I Steal Your Capital?

Israel decides to build 1600 new and Joe Biden goes ballistic, Hillary Clinton has a cow, and David Axelrod starts foaming at the mouth.
The White House is raising the stakes with Israel, calling it an "insult" and an "affront" that the Jewish nation would continue plans to build 1,600 new apartments during a construction freeze aimed at re-igniting peace talks with Palestinians.

Palestinians have not sought as part of their capital the area of northeast Jerusalem where the Jewish settlement of Ramat Shlomo resides, but the decision to announce construction plans just as Vice President Joe Biden was visiting the region led to strained meetings that continues past his return.

Biden expressed his displeasure by showing up late to a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in order to issue a statement of condemnation.

On Sunday, President Obama's chief political adviser David Axelrod told ABC's "This Week" that the move undermines the fragile effort to bring peace to the troubled region and called the timing of the announcement "very destructive."

Axelrod would not say what has been discussed in diplomatic talks but suggested the decision by Israel was "calculated to undermine" peace talks with the Palestinians. He added that because Israel is a special ally to the United States "for just that very reason that was not the right way to behave."

But White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Netanyahu's apology on Sunday was a "good start" to rebuild trust, but more needs to be done.

"I think what would be an even better start is coming to the table with constructive ideas for constructive and trustful dialogue about moving the peace process forward," Gibbs said.

"There's no doubt that events like last week weaken the trust that's needed for both sides to come together and have honest discussions about peace in the Middle East. So there's no doubt that that was not a bright spot for the Israeli government."

The State Department on Friday outlined what was described as a stern 45-minute call by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to the prime minister. The unusually tough dressing down reportedly took Netanyahu by surprise. On Sunday he announced plans to set up a committee to review processes to ensure an embarrassment like the one with Biden doesn't happen again.

Though Netanyahu had not included East Jerusalem in an earlier decision to halt construction for 10 months, the Jerusalem District Planning and Building committee canceled two meetings scheduled for this week after Clinton's call, Haaretz newspaper reported Sunday.
Now can somebody, anybody tell me when Israel conceded any part, any neighborhood, any square millimeter of Jerusalem?  Do you know who conceded the city of Jerusalem to the Arabs?
Barack Hussein Obama!  In his speech in Cairo!  That is correct.  No Israeli leader will ever surrender the City of David, the Capital of Ancient and Modern Israel willingly and without a fight.

Not after the last time.

For the last year President Obama has been trying to force Israel to put Jerusalem under the control of the UN.  On one hand Obama cries he is a friend of Israel, while on the other hand he sends his lackeys to do his dirty work.  Just like the corrupt Chicago Politician he is.

Only G-d know what is going to happen when both Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton meet at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) annual policy conference next week.

Yet the people of Jerusalem, in fact of Israel have voiced their desire to keep Jerusalem now and forever!
The Hurva Synagogue, also known as Hurvat Rabbi Yehudah he-Hasid ("Ruin of Rabbi Judah the Pious"), is a historic synagogue located in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Traditions for a synagogue in the area date from the 2nd century. In the early 1700s, followers of Judah he-Hasid founded a synagogue at the site, but it was destroyed a few years later, in 1721. The plot lay in ruins for over 140 years and became known as the Ruin, or Hurva. In 1864, the Perushim built a new synagogue on the site. Although officially named the Beis Yaakov Synagogue, it retained its name as the Hurva and became Jerusalem's main Ashkenazi synagogue until it too was reduced to rubble during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.

After the site came under Israeli control in 1967, a number of plans were submitted for the design of a new building. After years of deliberation and indecision, a commemorative arch was erected instead at the site in 1977, itself becoming a prominent landmark of the Jewish Quarter. The plan to rebuild the synagogue in its 19th century style received approval by the Israeli Government in 2000 and the newly rebuilt synagogue is due to be dedicated on March 15, 2010. The company involved with its reconstruction believe that restoring the synagogue to its former glory will once again make it serve as a center for World Jewry.

Source: Wikipedia
The Jordanians destroyed it fully in 1948, tonight will be the dedication of the rebuilt synagogue 62 years after its destruction.
Hundreds of people took part in a ceremony bringing a new Torah scroll into the restored Hurva Synagogue in the Old City's Jewish Quarter on Sunday. The ceremony in east Jerusalem was held under heavy security after the Palestinian Authority joined the Islamic Movement in its calls for Muslims to flock to the al-Aqsa Mosque in response to extremist Jews' plans to lay a cornerstone at the Temple Mount.

Among the celebrators was Knesset Member Michael Ben-Ari (National Union), who criticized the prime minister, saying, "(Benjamin) Netanyahu, who crushed his own national backbone and is leading to the division of Jerusalem, should have come here to draw strength from Hurva's restoration and display power instead of compromising Jerusalem's unity."

Torah scroll brought to Hurva Synagogue (Photo: Gil Yohanan)

Extreme rightists Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel were also on hand for the ceremony, during which a Torah scroll was placed in the restored synagogue.

The synagogue's dedication took place amid harsh criticism leveled at Israel, mainly by the US, over its decision to approve the construction of 1,600 housing units in east Jerusalem prior to the launching of indirect talks with the Palestinians.

One of the Jewish celebrators told Ynet, "We are here to say to the world that all of Jerusalem will remain ours for eternity. If the dedication of a synagogue in the Jewish Quarter angers the Obama Administration, then Netanyahu should choose another partner."
Yes we will not willingly surrender Jerusalem.  Not this year, not ever.  To quote Eliezer ben Yisrael (Stanley Goldfoot) A Letter to the World from Jerusalem:

For the first time since the year 70 there is now complete religious freedom for all in Jerusalem. For the first time since the Romans put the torch to the Temple everyone has equal rights. (You preferred to have some more equal than others.) We loathe the sword – but it was you who forced us to take it up. We crave peace – but we are not going back to the peace of 1948 as you would like us to.

We are home. It has a lovely sound for a nation you have willed to wander over the face of the globe. We are not leaving. We have redeemed the pledge made to our forefathers: Jerusalem is being rebuilt. “Next year” – and the year after, and after, until the end of time – “in Jerusalem!”

Now and forever this promise, this vow will NOT be forgotten or ignored!

The Enemy In The Mirror--- Repost

Once again I am digging into the vaults here at Radarsite and pulling out an old article written by Roger.  This one was originally published on Dec. 9, 2007 and addresses the issue of the Muhammad Cartoons. A topic that has been in the news these last few months.

The original article, along with the comments of readers can be found here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
"...we all need to apologize to future generations for living a life of comfortable ignorance".
-- Faultline USA
------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a recent article in Pajamas Media, Danish PM contributer and Jyllands-Posten editor Flemming Rose revealed the disturbing news that he had been targeted in 2006 for a possible terrorist bomb attack. Mr. Rose, it will be remembered, is the courageous editor who first published those highly-volatile Mohammed cartoons in September 2005. This is just the latest in a long series of threats made since then against the newspaper in general and Mr. Rose in particular.

To date, unlike Salman Rushdie, Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Michelle Malkin et al, Mr. Rose and his family have not yet been forced to relocate and go into hiding. To date, unlike that other high-profile Muslim critic Theo van Gogh, Flemming Rose has not yet been murdered.

This leads me inevitably to that troubling but unavoidable question, that elephant in our living room: Isn’t there something fundamentally wrong with a society where an editor’s decision to publish some controversial cartoons can be justly characterized as being “courageous”? Is this what our once proud and advanced Western Civilization has come down to? Is this the awful price we have paid for our blind adherence to some delusional multicultural PC agenda? Has our highly-developed, but increasingly culturally diluted, Western Civilization become so weakened, so impotent, so pathetic that it can no longer protect the lives of its finest citizens? Our newspaper editors, our authors and our columnists are now living in fear for their lives for daring to objectively comment on a foreign religion in their own country. Are you outraged yet?

I am personally becoming ashamed to consider myself a member of this cowardly civilization. Not only do we not fight back against this encroaching evil — and yes, folks, it is evil, evil incarnate — we turn against those amongst us who do have the courage to fight back. We call them racists and bigots. We emasculate them. One by one, our weak-kneed liberal Western governments are succumbing to the Islamists’ demands and intimidations. One by one, in the most ironic of ironies, we are losing our freedoms of speech in the name of some deceptive ideal of religious tolerance.

Where will it all end? How did we let this happen? Who fell asleep on guard duty? Who are the enemies amongst us who are responsible for allowing our defenses to erode away and for letting these deadly vipers into our nest?

And I look in the mirror and the enemy is me.

The enemy is complacency, naivete and ignorance. And it’s all there in my mirror. And all I can do at this late date is apologize to my fellow citizens for my complicity in this national crisis. I apologize for allowing my petty self-interests to blind me to the inevitability of these approaching horrors. I apologize for living my little life in comfortable ignorance, for ignoring all of that accumulating evidence, for not studying the issues earlier, for not listening more closely to the jihadists’ well-publicized and deadly goals, and for not heeding the frantic calls of our alarmists.

Finally, I apologize for waiting until three thousand of my innocent fellow citizens were slaughtered before I even began to acknowledge the enormity of this threat.

Now that I’ve admitted my culpability — how about you?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Too many of us have lived our lives ignorant of the world around us. Our news outlets (The Main Stream Media [MSM]) are willing participants in this charade that screams to the world the value of free speech and an open, honest media then turns around and censors itself.  This is not free speech.  It is censorship.

MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and now FOX NEWS has jumped on the self-censorship bandwagon.  The Saudis control our news outlets, letting no criticism of them, Muslims in general and Islam to be broadcast upon our airwaves.

Thus without firing a shot, or passing a law, Islam has won.  With the passing of FOX NEWS, we now have no free speech. And what Roger warned us about over 2 years ago has come to pass.

ABC Credits Net Posse with Tracking Jihadists

by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

ABC News is crediting the "net posse" that helped track and report the activities of Jihad Jane (Colleen LaRose). Our friends at JawaReport, QuothTheRaven and the YouTube Smackdown Corps are rightly credited for their ongoing counterterrorism tracking - even though ABC also refers to these patriot sites as 'net vigilantes.' Oh, well, words are cheap for the lame MSM.

Jihad Jane (Colleen LaRose)

The JawaReport's Rusty Shackleford said this in an interview with ABC News:

Shackleford, a pen name, says he is a libertarian college professor who created the blog JawaReport in 2004 after he was enraged that Iraqi Islamists had beheaded an American named Nick Berg.
It was my way of venting. But mostly it was about countering violent Islamist propaganda, specifically the videos that were being produced by al Qaeda in Iraq and other Salaafist jihadists fighting our troops," he said.
Shackleford said his goal from the beginning was combating violent Islamist material and support on the Web.
I'm a blogger, but also an activist against violent Islamism. One of the things we do is try to pressure Webhosts to remove Websites that belong to terrorist organizations. An example of this would be the dozen or so times we've successfully had the Taliban's website removed. The websites sometimes pop back up, sometimes not," Shackleford said.
Shackleford and other contributors to JawaReport and sites like it noticed YouTube had become a hug for videos and comments in support of violent extremism and attacks against the West and it's allies, leading to the creation of the YouTube Smackdown.
Shackleford said the groups identify videos in support of violent Islamism and pressure the Web site to take them down, "as they would child pornography or other obscene material."
According to the Quoth the Raven blog, since the "smackdown" movement began in 2007, users have had over 31,000 videos removed from YouTube, and 695 users suspended. They say LaRose was one of those suspended.

Drop by The Jawa Report and leave a nice comment.

Growing Anti-Semitism in Venezuela

Gary Fouse
fousesquawk

Hat tip to the Orange County Independent Task Force on Anti-Semitism

The below article describes concern about growing anti-Semitism in Venezuela as documented by the Organization of American States (OAS).

http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/world/new-oas-report-expresses-concern-about-anti-semitism-in-venezuela_100331900.html

That, of course, doesn't concern Hugo Chavez's friend, actor Sean Penn, who told fellow-jerk Bill Maher Friday on Maher's show that those who report "false" stories about Chavez should be prosecuted and put in prison.

PENN: "The collaborative opportunity in Haiti, when you talk about Hugo Chavez, and some of the other people who are demonized [think Castro], and you know, when some of these countries accuse us of an occupation -- where I believe this was strictly a humanitarian action by the United States military, and an incredible one – I’m a little sympathetic. Because every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it! And accept it. And this is mainstream media, who should – truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies."

What is truly sad about Sean Penn is that he has embraced a man (Chavez) who is a truly bad guy. Why? I guess because Chavez was an enemy of George W. Bush and opposes US policies. I would say that Penn supports Chavez for the same reasons that many misguided Americans support Fidel Castro and revere the memory of Che Guevara (who was nothing more than an executioner after Castro took power).

Yet, Penn chooses to ignore not only that Chavez is turning Venezuela into a dictatorship, but that he has given aid to the Colombian rebel group FARC, which finances its "revolution" against a democratic Colombia by drug trafficking and kidnapping, and now, has launched a campaign of anti-Semitism and persecution of Venezuela's tiny Jewish community because he has chosen to align himself with the Palestinian cause.

If Penn had any intellectual capacity, he might ask himself why Chavez is using his sympathy for the Palestinian cause to persecute the Venezuelan Jewish community.

Apparently, Penn doesn't have a lot of intelligence. Or perhaps, it is because he doesn't care about the harm Chavez is doing to Colombia-or to Venezuela's Jewish citizens. And to think that he implies that American writers who criticize that thug should be put in prison is just astounding.

Little Dictators Shouldn't Talk So Much.

By Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

This is very good advice for Kim Jong-il, the current Leader Big Cheese running the country insane asylum known as North Korea.
North Korea's army said Monday it is ready to "blow up" South Korea and the U.S., hours after the allies kicked off annual military drills that Pyongyang has slammed as a rehearsal for attack.

South Korea and the U.S. — which normally dismiss such threats as rhetoric — began 11 days of drills across South Korea on Monday morning to rehearse how the U.S. would deploy in time of emergency on the Korean peninsula.

The U.S. and South Korea argue the drills — which include live firing by U.S. Marines, aerial attack drills and urban warfare training — are purely defensive. North Korea claims they amount to attack preparations and has demanded they be canceled.

The North's People's Army issued a statement Monday, warning the drills created a tense situation and that its troops are "fully ready" to "blow up" the allies once the order is issued.

The North also put all its soldiers and reservists on high alert to "mercilessly crush the aggressors" should they encroach upon the North's territory even slightly, said the statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

The communist country has issued similar rhetoric in the days leading up the drills. On Sunday, it said it would bolster its nuclear capability and break off dialogue with the U.S. in response to the drills.

South Korea's military has been closely monitoring Pyongyang's maneuvers but hasn't seen any signs of suspicious activities by North Korean troops, Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said earlier Monday.

"We see it as (North Korea's) stereotype denouncement," Defense Ministry spokesman Won Tae-jae told reporters.

Finish reading here.
It is a well known fact that North Korea has only a handful of nuclear weapons.  Intelligence estimates put the figure at 6-8 weapons.  Not a very large arsenal.

Current estimates of the US nuclear arsenal is over 5,000 weapons.  A very great difference.  In layman's terms:  "The United States could wipe out every living thing in North Korea in less than a few hours.  North Korea could wipe out a couple of cities, (if they were very lucky) but that is that."

What has happened is that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (AKA Monkeyman), has been running off his mouth again.  Especially after North Korea helped to build the Iranian new missile launch pad.

Iran's development of a missile launch facility in the northern province of Semnan and its Simorgh missile project both indicate that the militant Shiite theocracy is probably collaborating with North Korea on its missile program. The platforms seen on the Semnan launch pad's new gantry tower – a multi-level tower for servicing missiles before launch – resemble those seen on the gantry tower at North Korea’s new Tongchang launch pad. A drainage pit 170 meters directly in front of the pad also seems like a copy of one at Pyongyang’s new site.

In addition, the first stage of the Simorgh missile strongly resembles the North Korean Unha-2, with four clustered engines and near-identical dimensions.

Photographs and information about the likely collaboration between Iran and North Korea have appeared on security news sites Defense Update and Jane's IHS.

Defense Update also reported that east of the active site, “the Iranians are constructing a new facility that could be supporting the Iranian solid rocket propulsion development, associated with the Sejjil and Ashura missiles or even larger missiles” – and noted that “according to Jane's Intelligence analysts, the site could be associated with the next-generation Simorgh rocket.”

The Simorgh, unveiled in early February, is officially intended to be used as a space-launch vehicle, but it could be converted for launching long-range ballistic missiles for military purposes.

Satellite images indicate that the launch pad has “a fully constructed flame bucket” – the structure that diverts the missile's exhaust gases from the hillside. The launch site is linked through tubing to a nearby, sheltered underground facility. The gantry tower is approximately 18–20 meters tall, and the flame bucket is nearly as high as the tower. Jane's analysts assume the construction appears midway towards completion.
For the record: The images above came from an Israeli spy satellite.
