There will be no changes needed for Cowboys Stadium's massive video board, the NFL is close to deciding. Todd Archer reports the NFL competition committee has recommended to NFL owners to leave the do-over rule in place if a punt hits the video board. Only one punt -- by Tennessee Titans punter A.J. Trapasso -- hit the video board, and that was in the first preseason game at the stadium. Trapasso was later cut. The competition committee also is recommending to owners meeting in Orlando next week that language be added relating to the end zone doors in Cowboys Stadium and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The doors will be subject to the same rule as retractable roofs. If the doors are open 90 minutes before game time, they'll have to remain open. If they are closed, they have to stay closed. The exception is that roofs and doors can be closed if bad weather blows in during the game.

An announced crowd of 50,994 attended the boxing debut of Cowboys Stadium with Manny Pacquiao easily defeating Joshua Clottey. Afterwards, promoter Bob Arum said it likely won't be the last boxing match at the stadium. It wasn't the biggest boxing crowd ever in Texas, but probably had as much pomp and circumstance as any boxing match in the state -- largely because of Cowboys Stadium. There was talk after the fight that the hoped-for Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather fight might still happen -- maybe in November and maybe at Cowboys Stadium. There was also some talk of a Mayweather fight against another opponent in Cowboys Stadium later this spring. So how was the stadium as a boxing venue? Did the video board make it worthwhile for those up in the stands?

Every other round went to Pacquaio on all cards, except Carlos generously gave 5 and 10 to Clottey.

Judges have it 120-108, 119-109, 119-109, so two judges gave Clottey a round apiece. I had 120-108, Barry Horn 120-109 with the 12th roiund even and Carlos Nava 117-111 Pacquiao, giving three rounds to Clottey

More of the same. Clottey is too slow and played it too safe to have a chance. I have it 120-108 and will be interested to see if any judge gives CLottey a round.

The entry "12th round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey scored with at least five big lefts, and I still can't give him the round for the same reasons. Pacquiao always comes back and pummels him, even after being stung. Clottey needs to really pour it on as he needs a knockout. Pacquiao

The entry "11th round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Colleague Barry Horn also has 90-81 through nine, Carlos Nava has 88-83. Clottey scored a couple of combinations and rocked Pacquiao once. Key is, every time CLottey scores, Pacquiao scores even more. Can't see fit to give Clottey a round, but that was his best one. Pacquiao

The entry "Ninth round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey is scoring more than he did, but Pacquio is scoring even more. Got to give Clottey credit, looks like he still has power. He needs to really open it up soon though, Pacquiao is landing long series of punches, while with Clottey its one, tops. Pacquiao

The entry "Eighth round; Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey finally scored early, then fight reverted. Pacquiao got him against ropes twice an in corner once and pummeled him. Clottey is swinging more but paying for it. Pacquiao again. Trying to like Clottey but can't. Pacquiao 70-63

The entry "Seventh round: Pacquaio vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey still looks like he's waiting to throw one big punch, but Pacquiao is scoring heavily to the body and sometimes the face. Pacquiao is starting to miss more, though. Will be interesting to see CLottey's strategy past the halfway point. Round to Pacxquiao. 60-54

The entry "Sixth round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey is more active, but he's getting hit four times for every punch he connects with. Pacquiao is much too fast for him. Clottey still doesn't appear hurt but is giving away too many rounds. Gave it to Pacquiao. 50-45

The entry "Fifth round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey is playing rope-a-dope with no rope. He's obviously trying to wear down Pacquiao but Packquiao is just pummeling him. Hit about six shots in a row in the corner. CLottey is coming forward but isn't doing anything. Clottey tagged Packquaio good right before the bell, but still that was the most lopsided round of all. Gave it to Pacquaio, got Pacquaio 40-36.

The entry "Fourth round: Pacquiao vs. Clottey" has no entry tags.
Clottey has his hands up and has done very little, starting to show some life in the third. Pacquiao is scoring heavily to the body. Pacquaio is throwing combinations. Hasn't seemed to hurt Clottey but must be wearing him down. I gave all three rounds to Pacquaio, the third round was close.

We just had the national anthems of Ghana, Philippines and the U.S. Hadn't heard the first two before. Now, a wild, noisy video intro for the main event. The crowd is really into it. There is a thunder-and-lightning motif to it. The ring is packed. and everyone is standing at ringside. Clottey is headed toward the ring.

Just finished what probably will be the most action-packed fight of the night, with Humberto Soto defeating David Diaz for the WBC lightweight title. Soto appeared to build a big early lead, with DIaz scoring late in a bid to catch up. Both fighters were scoring late. Soto took Diaz' title and is now a three-time world champion. Judges' cards, all for Soto, were: Pacuaio fight is up next. Fans just roared as a graphic went up on the monster screen.
