Listen to WBAI Live
You can listen to WBAI live over the Internet (referred to as "streaming"), using one of the various audio formats below. For previously aired shows see our archives at archive.wbai.org. The OGG stream originates from a totally different source than the other streams. If any or all of the other streams are down, the OGG stream may well be working. To report a problem with our live streams send an email to stream at wbai.org.

It enables WBAI to continue to provide live streaming
We still accept ONLINE DONATIONS at any time

NOTE: Sometime on April 5, 2010 the location of the two high quality (64k) live streams changed. For about a day, this page did not reflect this change. It has been corrected. Our apologies for not sending out notice of this update ahead of time.

Windows Media Player
If you are using Windows, then you can listen to our 24K live stream (mono) with Windows Media Player.

Expect a delay of about 5 to 7 seconds before the audio starts playing.
Internet Explorer users will probably be asked to approve installing an ActiveX control.
Firefox users can adjust the volume by right clicking on the player.
This has not yet been tested with Opera, Chrome or Safari.

RadioTime Player
The RadioTime Player also includes the helper applications inside a web page. If Real Player is installed on your computer, then open the RadioTime Player in this window or a new window. All Windows users can open another version of the RadioTime Player (that uses Windows Media Player) in this window or a new window.

VLC Player
A simple, free and portable application for listening to any of our streams is portable VLC. The download is 10 megabytes, when un-zipped the application is about 16 megabytes. It works with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. It also works with Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME, but they are not officially supported.

INSTALLING

Normally your web browser invokes a program to play the live streams. This gets confusing as the program being invoked will vary depending on the web browser and the software installed on your computer. Here is an alternative for Windows users:

After unzipping the portable version of VLC, find file VLCPortable.exe. Right click on it and make a new shortcut to it. Then right click on the new shortcut and rename it something like "WBAI 24K". Then, right click again on the same shortcut and get the properties. The Target box will have something like "X:\VLCPortable\VLCPortable.exe" (without the quotes). After the trailing "e" type a space and then this: "http://stream.wbai.org:8000/24k", again, without the quotes. When you're done the Target box should look something like this:

X:\VLCPortable\VLCPortable.exe http://stream.wbai.org:8000/24k

Click the OK button and you're done. Double clicking on the new shorcut will start the 24K MP3 live stream in a couple seconds. You may want to move or copy the shortcut to the desktop.
