‘Holder-in-Chief’ Coburn issues far-fetched threat against Democrats who switch votes in favor of health reform.

During a GOP press conference today, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) issued a far-fetched threat against those Democrats who are considering switching their votes to support health reform. “If you voted no and you vote yes and you lose your election and you think any nomination to a federal position isn’t going to be held in the Senate, I’ve got news for you, it’s going to be held,” Coburn said. Calling Coburn the “holder-in-chief,” Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) said, “I look forward to those holds.” Watch it:

To be clear, Coburn — who has placed holds on everything from veterans benefits bills to sanctions against a mass-murdering African militia — is targeting the small number of Democrats who switch their votes, and then are subsequently defeated, and later nominated by President Obama for a federal appointment. In other words, Coburn’s threat pertains to a highly improbable event. “There is no limit to what the other side will do to protect the insurance companies,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

TODAY’S REPUBLICANS ARE AMERICA’S ENEMY WITHIN

Republicans ARE practicing seditious DEMAGOGUERY and anti-democracy OBSTRUCTIONISM intended to destabilize our economy for purposes of political exploitation.

Republicans AREN’T making a sincere effort to STOP the bleeding THEIR incompetent leadership and failed policies created. Instead, they’re using inflammatory lies and accusations as a smokescreen to conceal their subversive agenda, which is to cause President Obama and America to fail so they can blame Democrats for the consequences of THEIR calamitous mismanagement.

Republicans ARE preposterously professing that THEIR disgraceful political WHORING had nothing to do with the banking, real estate, stock market and employment catastrophes that resulted.

Republicans ARE trying to hamstring Democrats to prevent them from repairing the damage caused during a Republican presidency that was irresponsibly enabled by Republican Senators and Representatives.

Republicans ARE offering ridiculous arguments meant solely to disrupt and prevent progressive change. They’d rather divide America and create political gridlock than endure the political consequences of effective Democratic governance.

Republicans AREN’T the LOYAL OPPOSITION; they ARE the ENEMY WITHIN whose mercenary personal priorities have eroded their moral and ethical standards to the point that duplicity and betrayal are their preferred modus operandi.

It’s one thing to advocate their conservative beliefs; it’s another thing entirely to willfully sabotage America’s government because a successful Democratic presidency would not be vulnerable to the greed, fears and hatreds that have produced and sustained the radical Republican anti-government corporatism and anti-Christian faux theocracies that are poisoning and crippling American society.

Has Obama done any recess appointments yet? If he hasn’t it is time he did. Do a recess appointment for all of his nominees that have been held up for more than 6 months. At the beginning of the next session of congress, tell the Majority Leader that he has 6 months to get the nominations through, otherwise there will be a mass recess appointment for all of them.

The only way to drop prices is through competition. Any regulations that limit competition or restrict smaller insurance companies should be immediately repealed. Also, health insurance should be allowed to be purchased across state lines. Another reform meausre would be to limit health insurance to major illnesses. Like every other type of insurance, health insurance should be for unforseen big dollar costs. Car insurance is for accidents, home insurance is for fires, health insurance should be for major illnesses. Actuaries would then be able to forecast based on risk. Premiums would decrease because the chances of people getting major illnesses is much less. The current system rewards people for driving up costs. Because people with insurance tend to go to the doctor’s more often, the premiums obviously increase because the insurance companies know that they’ll have to spend more. The government covering every citizen so they can go to the doctor for free everytime they have a cold is ridiculous. Tort reform should also be considered. Malpractice insurance for the medical industry is just insane. There are so many options available to be tested rather than just the knee-jerk reaction of establishing a tremendous new entitlement program.

Are you effin serious? Removing regulations would improve competition? Hon, having regulations on insurance is the only reason we have what competition we have today…Otherwise, one company could buy up all the rest of them and become a monopoly for the insurance market…Do you want to shitcan consumers as well? Regulations help protect consumers from unfair insurance pratices and fraud..

That is my experience as well. I have taken a friend over to the local VA hospital when he couldn’t get a ride from his family and I was shocked at the number of people in the waiting room, and how fast they are seen.

What is even more impressive is the courtesy and respect that they are given. The staff at that VA hospital seems to genuinely care about their work, and the patients.

We all hate that insurance companies will be able to broaden their base with 31 million more people, but the offset for that is that 31 million more will have coverage that cannot be dropped or denied, and increase in premiums will have to be applied for before being approved.
That insurance companies remain in play is because that is the system that we have now.
I hope that over time, we will gradually modify these new rules to gradually remove insurance companies from the mix and allow them to be the avenue through which claims are processed, but they don’t have control over anything.

The only way to drop prices is through competition.

Let me help you out here, peabrain. There is no prohibition on competition in the soon-to-be-law health care reform bill. In fact, it is just the opposite.

The bill will create a more uniform and orderly market. It will level the playing field. Health insurers will no longer “compete” based upon shady practices such as anti-selection, price-shadowing, questionable underwriting procedures, rescissions and coverage restrictions.

No. When customers have choices via insurance exchanges, there will finally actually be competitive forces at work. Insurers will actually have to attract customers through premium differentials, customer satisfaction reputation and service.

You are obviously the gullible, weak intellect, low-information type who has seized upon the pablum that BeckerHead, FoxSnooze, Chinless Mitch, Limpballs, Little Seanie Vanity and others spoon out. In other words, cupcake, you are part of the problem; not part of the solution.

These conservative talking points by the various posters are merely to obfuscate the real issue in the health care debate. The real issue is whether we should pass the legislation to cover many of the uninsured. The Republican proposals do very little to bring affordable insurance to those that are already insured and the proposals do very little to cover the uninsured. All the Republican proposals together do not resolve the health care system problems; they are a bandaid to stall a resolution of these problems. This is typical strategy for the Republicans to let problems fester until we are forced to deal with the issue. They are treating health care like the infrastructure and postponing the solutions in the name of fiscal policy which is bogus. There will never be a right time or a domestic program that Republicans will advocate.
