Sandcat + SCAT = Combating Terror and Urban Violence

In the recent years, these tanks are heavily engaged in combat operations, in Yemen, Syria, and Sinai where they have suffered significant losses to anti-tank weapons. Mysterious New Jet Takes to the Air

Scaled Composites announced the first flight of its newly developed, experimental aircraft Model 401. The company produced two such aircraft for an undisclosed customer, to demonstrate advanced, low-cost manufacturing techniques and research flight services for the United States government. This successful first flight is the beginning of the flight test phase for vehicle number 1. The Scaled team plans to continue envelope expansion on the first aircraft as they move toward first flight of the second Model 401 vehicle.

SeaGull Demonstrates Autonomous ASW Capabilities

Elbit Systems has developed an unmanned anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and mine countermeasure (MCM) vessels that enable navies to detect and defeat enemy submarines and neutralize sea mines in a safer, more efficient and affordable way. At the DSEI exhibition this week the company has demonstrated how the unmanned Seagull boats can autonomously perform anti-submarine operations over a distance of 1,890 nautical miles, with the mission controlled over a satellite link from the company's exhibit at DSEI in London.

Lockheed Martin UK Developed a Submarine-Launched UAV

OUTRIDER, a miniature, expendable drone launched from submarines while underwater at periscope depth was unveiled today by Lockheed Martin. The drone was developed in the UK and is being evaluated by potential customers.

Turkey is negotiating a mega deal worth billions of dollars in a 'Turkish Bazar' style, where the European Eurosam consortium faces a competing offer from the Russians, through their largest missile exporter Rostec, as Ankara opens its missile defense program to foreign bidders.

U.S. Air Force Awards Lockheed Martin $413 Million for JASSM-ER Production

Lockheed Martin received a $413.8 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for Lot 15 production of the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM)-Extended Range (ER) version. The production lot that includes 360 JASSM-ER missiles, brings the total JASSM-ER missiles under contract to 910, and to more than 3,000 missiles for JASSM and JASSM-ER combined.

Australian Forces Select Aerovironment’s Wasp-AE Mini-UAVs

The Australian defense department selected AeroVironment's Wasp AE small unmanned aircraft system for use by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The Australian order will deliver mini-drones within a period of three-year period, and support the systems for ten years. The contract is worth A$101 million(USD 74.6 million), of which the about half (US$36.5 million) will be the original manufacturer's share.

New Orders Expand Indian LRSAM Integration to More Vessels

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced today it has been awarded an additional, $630 million- contract for the supply of LRSAM air & missile defense systems for four ships of the Indian navy. The type of ships was not released but are likely to be Project 15B Visakhapatnam-class missile destroyers, scheduled for commissioning from 2018 through 2024.

New Indian Order Brings Barak-8 Order Book to US$ 5 Billion

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the Indian Ministry of Defense signed a contract worth US$1.6 billion today, for the supply of an unspecified number of Medium Range Surface to Air Missiles (MRSAM) for the Indian Land Forces. IAI signed today a second contract for the delivery of Barak 8 Long Range SAM (LRSAM) for the first locally built aircraft carrier - Vikrant. The new deals have increased the system's total order book by 60 percent, to five billion.

New Eyes Seeking Targets in Forests

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has added a foliage penetrating (FOPEN) radar to its ELM-2112 family of persistent ground surveillance radars. Unlike other sensors in the ELM-2112 family, the ELM-2112FP operates in the L-band, to enable better penetration of dense foliage. With this capability the new radar can penetrate 'few tens of meters' into dense vegetation, to detect moving targets hidden in dense shrubs, forests, and jungles, from a distance of several kilometers away.

Scrambler 300 Drone Rifle

The Scrambler 300 Drone Rifle operates in the L, S and C bands and is capable of jamming common telecommunication protocols between a drone and its remote operator. It detects targets at a distance of 500 meters and can jam such targets from 300 meters. GNSS jamming is enabled at 150 meters.

The Australian company DroneShield announced the first sale of its DroneGun tactical drone jammer to a government in the middle east. As a point-and-shoot weapon, the DroneGun is designed to be effective against a wide variety of drones. By neutralizing drones from a safe distance, DroneGun offers advantages over alternative kinetic solutions such as nets or bullets, as it allows for safe handling of situations such as drones carrying explosives or biological payloads.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and European weapon system specialist MBDA have announced the formation of an Indian based Joint Venture to pursue opportunities for the development and supply of missiles systems to meet the growing potential requirements of the Indian armed forces. To begin with, the JV will look to develop and supply fifth generation anti-tank guided missiles, anti-ship missiles for coastal defense and high-speed target drones.
