Okanagan tinder dry: small brush fires keep crews busy

A property owner with a burning permit could not control the flames as wind carried the fire from a debris pile to the nearby forest with the help of wind and tinder dry conditions.

Caution is advised for Okanagan residents with burning permits following a busy day for West Kelowna fire crews. A fire in West Kelowna Estates and another in Lakeview Heights prove the lack of rain and winter snowpack has left the ground tinder dry and ripe for quickly spreading fire.
