The Wages of Liberalism, Part 2

Birth to Preschool

Because your mother chose to bed a knave, she alone is raising you. She may have some support from her parents, but most likely the help they can offer is minimal. Your mother returns to Big Nanny Government for help. Food stamps, unemployment checks, and free medical care for you, all from the pockets of those who were more careful in their decisions than her. But that's all right; she is a Glorious Single Mother, praised and encouraged by the media, lauded as an unsung hero, even though they're singing pretty loudly. Never mind that more than 70% of all the criminals currently residing in prisons across our country are the result of single motherhood. Never mind that more and more children of single mothers are less and less successful in life, and tend to repeat their mother's foolish decisions.

The Most Important Poll You'll EVER See

From CNN, and lord knows I don't cite CNN often.

Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government's become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans.

I don't like polls. I find that they are far too heavily relied on, and they can be very easily skewed, simply by cherry-picking respondents and asking misleading questions. But given that this is a CNN poll, a network that clearly showed bias before, during, and after the 2008 election, I'm tending towards listening to this one.

56%. A higher margin than Obama won to become leader of the free world. Obama only won by 7%, and yet the left likes to call it a landslide, a mandate from the masses. Okay, fine. By all means then, let's call that a landslide. So what shall we make of a 12% difference in this poll? Is this not a landslide? Is this not a mandate?

Well over half the country believes that our government poses an IMMEDIATE DANGER to us. This poll means that over half the country DOES NOT TRUST that the current administration has our best interests in mind. I can not believe that any of those 56% believe that a government that is a danger to them trusts that same government with health care, or Cap and Trade, Stimulus, Porkulus, Jobulus, ANY of it.

There is going to be a major change, come November. As I have said before, and this poll certainly leads me to believe I'm on the money, 2010 is going to be a really bad year to be a Democrat or Republican incumbent. Those folks need to start polishing their resumés. They've lost touch with the American people; perhaps they'll get to know a few of them better when they're in the Unemployment line.

The Wages of Liberalism, Part 1

Unless you really stop and think about it, it's easy to miss just how deeply the liberal/progressive/socialist/communist movement has embedded itself into our lives and altered the fabric of our country. We often talk about how badly biased the media is, or the rampant liberalism of Hollywood, or the corruption in our government, or the steady decline of education, but rarely to do we put it all together.

Two reasons for this, as best as I can figure. One, it's depressing as hell. Two, the sheer scope of it makes War and Peace look like a fortune cookie. As any blogger can tell you, articles that run overlong tend to be overlooked. So I will try to break this down into sections, covering the life of a person whom I will refer to as “You.” I'm not implying that you, dear reader, are the subject of this article, I'm just doing it to drive home a point; this is what liberalism offers you. Second Person narrative tends to bring the reader further into the story, personalizing it even though the reader may have nothing whatsoever in common with the “You” in the story.
