Counties improve community health
The County of Solano is one of 3,068 counties across the country providing essential services critical to the health of communities every day. To honor this commitment, Solano County joins the National Association of Counties in celebrating April as National County Government Month.  The theme of this year's celebration is "Healthy Counties," which highlights the diverse role counties play in supporting the community in the areas of healthcare, community health, environmental health, transportation support and healthy economies.

Public invited to presentation on William J. Carroll Government Center

The County is seeking community input on the mitigated negative declaration on the William J. Carroll Government Center project on the corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Brown Street in Vacaville. The public is invited to presentation on the mitigated negative declaration on Thursday, April 29 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Country High School at 100 McClellan Street in Vacaville.

Operation 4-HEROES needs your vote
The Solano County 4-H Operation 4-HEROES Project is looking to the public for help in building a memorial honoring fallen soldiers. And that help comes in the form of daily votes in the Raley's Reach Grant competition that will award $7,500 grants to the five projects receiving the most votes by May 12. Each email address can vote once per day.

Community budget workshop set for April 26
County leaders are looking to community-based organizations to share their ideas on how to best deliver services in an era of significantly reduced funding. "Their participation in this workshop will give us insights on how we can maintain a balanced budget and continue to provide vital services," said County Administrator Michael D. Johnson. The Community Workshop on the Budget is on Monday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the County Government Center, 675 Texas St. in Fairfield.
