The White House and ED announced that voting for the winner of the Race to the Top High School Commencement Challenge will begin April 26.

 

Alabama and Kentucky are among the states receiving funding under the School Improvement Grants program to turn around persistently lowest achieving schools.

 

Colorado is among the states that will receive additional Recovery Act funds to support jobs and drive education reforms.

 

"Today, we lost a great partner in our work to reform schools," Secretary Duncan said in a statement on the death of Dr. Dorothy Height.

 

ED has produced a series of videos that show how several school districts have successfully turned around low-performing schools using the four models endorsed by the School Improvement Grant program.

 

Secretary Duncan testified before a Senate appropriations subcommittee on the President's proposed budget for fiscal year 2011.
