Facebook Questions lets you get recommendations, conduct polls and learn from your friends and other people on Facebook.

Asking a Question
  1. Click  Ask Question in your sharing menu.
  2. Enter a question, and click Add Poll Options if you'd like to give options. If you want to allow others to add options too, make sure the Allow anyone to add options box is checked.
  3. Choose who can see your question by using the audience selector, then click Post.
Answering a Question
You can answer questions you see directly from News Feed. Just click the option(s) you want to vote for. If you'd like to leave a longer response, click the question title and write your answer in the Posts box.

Finding Questions your Friends Asked
You can see a feed of questions and answers from you and your friends by clicking the Questions link in the left column of your homepage. If you don't see the link there, add a bookmark for the Facebook Questions app. You'll land on Friend's Activity, and you can switch to Your Activity using the link in the top right corner.

You can ask any type of question, but we designed Facebook Questions to help you get fast, short-form responses or votes.

For example, you can use questions to get recommendations from your friends (What are your favorite iPhone apps?), learn more about the people around you (What was your favorite movie as a child?) or start discussion about current events (How can I help the earthquake victims in Japan?).

Anyone who can see your question can participate, but answers are always filtered to show you responses from friends first. So even if many people have responded you will always see what your friends have said first. You can access the responses from everyone else by clicking Others within the Posts section of the question.

  • To report a question that violates Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, click on the title of the question. Then click the Report link under Asked By.
  • To report a reply to a question that violates Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, hover over the post and click the X to report it.

  • Go to the question by clicking the question title
  • Click the Ask Friends button under Asked By

Your friend will get a notification inviting him or her to answer the question. If they respond, you'll get a notification of their answer.

Following a Facebook Question means you’re subscribing to receive notifications when the question is answered by your friends.

To follow a question:

  • Go to the question by clicking the question title
  • Click the Follow button under Asked By

Your friends may see that you're following the question through News Feed. Also if you choose to include a Questions section in your profile (timeline), then questions you follow appear in the Followed Questions section.

You can unfollow a question by going to the question and clicking the Unfollow button under Asked By.

As with other Facebook apps like Photos and Events, you can't completely turn off questions stories...
As with other Facebook apps like Photos and Events, you can't completely turn off questions stories from your feed. However, you can remove specific Recent Activity stories (including Questions) by clicking the Remove button that appears to the right of the story after you hover your mouse over it.

Note that when you ask a question in a group, only other group members can see and answer the question. Group questions will not be shared on your profile (timeline) or in News Feed.

If you’re a Page admin, you can ask, follow and answer questions as your Page. When a Page asks or...
If you’re a Page admin, you can ask, follow and answer questions as your Page. When a Page asks or answers a question, people who like the Page can see the story.

To ask a question as a Page:
  1. Go to the Page you admin.
  2. From the top of your Page’s Wall click  Question.
  3. Enter a question, and click Add Poll Options if you'd like to give options. If you want to allow others to add options too, make sure the Allow anyone to add options box is checked.
  4. Choose who can see your question by using the audience selector, then click Ask Question.
To follow or respond to a question as a Page:
  1. Click at the top right of any Facebook page.
  2. Select Use Facebook as Page from the dropdown menu.
  3. Go to the question. Actions you take (following or responding) will be done on behalf of your Page.
