Great News about Kristi King Medical Fund

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

Many of you have read about the Kristi King Medical Fund I set up through Go Fund Me to help a friend in need. Thank you so much, those of you who have so generously given. Kristi is grateful beyond words, and so am I. She got some really great news the other day, and I have posted an update!

The update reads:

Thanks to the generosity of many of you, Kristi King received some great news! After her application to waive her medical bills was denied, I started the Go Fund Me, since she had no insurance at the time of her accident and became unemployed. After hearing an inspiring message from her pastor about having faith and using the resources God has given to "go for it," she took the money that had already been donated--over $5,000--and applied it to her bill, as I mentioned in the last update. She still owed over $7,000, however. Taking inspiration from her pastor's sermon, in a leap of faith, Kristi decided to try again and reapplied for the medical bill waiver. She just got word yesterday that she was approved, and the remainder of the debt has been waived! Without your contributions--and God's favor--this would not be the case. Your help has not been in vain! Your giving enabled her to pay on the bill, showing the hospital a genuine effort to settle the debt, and they responded by giving her a clean slate--because of you! Some gave because you love Kristi, and others didn't even know her, but gave because you love me. Some gave a little, and some gave much. Some gave once, and some gave multiple times. And some couldn't give, but prayed. All of it--every last bit--is appreciated more than words could ever express. Thank you, and God bless you!

Thank you all! God is faithful!

Your Help Is Greatly Appreciated: Krist King's Medical Fund

Friday, February 20, 2015

Sometimes, life throws us curve balls. At the end of November, my friend Kristi King experienced something that could have ended her life: in short, a stair at the top of her loft cracked and sent her down over the top and onto the floor below, where she landed on her head. Doctors say it is a miracle she did not break her neck. For that miracle, those of us who are her friends and family are grateful to God.

Kristi is healing well, but she still needs help. Her job had just approached its end due to employment cuts, and she had no health insurance at the time of the accident. Kristi is not one to ask for help; she takes personal responsibility for her life. But sometimes, we all need a hand up. I decided to extend a hand, and I started a GoFundMe to assist her, praying that the generosity of others could help eradicate that $13,000 debt she now faces.

I have included her story below, which is also posted on the GoFundMe.com/kristiking page I launched. It fully details Kristi's story. Please read it and consider donating to Kristi, someone who would do anything to help anyone.

Some people prefer to give anonymously, which GoFundMe allows; when you click the Donate button, you have the option of having your identity hidden. Also, please know that as there is no donation too big, there is no donation too small, either; the $5.00, $10.00, and $20.00 donations mean just as much as the larger donations. Although GoFundMe is both legitimate and reputable, I realize, too, that some would rather not give online. If that's the case, please email me at motivationtruth@aol.com, and I will let you know where to send your donation. Thank you so much for considering donating to my friend.

Here's the story behind Kristi King's Medical Fund:

On November 29, two days after Thanksgiving, Kristi suffered multiple injuries when the top step of her loft cracked as she was going downstairs. This sent her down over the top onto the first floor, where she landed on her head and was knocked unconscious. She eventually woke up and was able to call for help and get to the hospital. Kristi suffered orbital skull fractures, a concussion, and whiplash. The doctors said it was a miracle she didn’t break her neck. Though she has still been dealing with the effects of the accident, thank God she survived and is on the mend.

However, Kristi had no medical insurance when she fell, and she had recently received news that her job was ending, as her employer was cutting back. So with no insurance and no employment, she was faced with trying to figure out how she would pay for the medical bills from this horrific fall.

Kristi applied for a bill waiver in light of her financial circumstance, but she received word recently that she was not approved. It's for this reason that I have resorted to asking you to help. She has always taken personal responsibility for her life and has always worked hard. She prides herself on being a good steward of her blessings. Kristi has maintained great credit all these years, but that is now threatened, as she finds herself with a $13,000 medical bill—and no new job yet.

As Kristi’s friend, I have turned to GoFundMe to help her in her time of need, and I turn to you to ask for your assistance. Would you donate to help her? I know that we can make a difference, and I know she will appreciate every dollar you contribute. It will not go unnoticed and certainly not unappreciated. You can give once, periodically, or even monthly.

I humbly ask that you make a donation to the Kristi King Medical Fund. Thank you and God bless you!

Please consider both giving a donation and sharing this information with others. Thank you so much, and God bless you abundantly.

Video: Dr. King's Dream: Where Are We Now?

Monday, January 19, 2015

This past Thursday, January 15, I spoke to those gathered at the SEMO Pachyderm Club on the topic "Dr. King's Dream: Where Are We Now?" It was an honest look into race relations and challenged people to reflect on what Dr. King's dream actually was and if we have achieved it.

The inspirational speech, no doubt, validated the perspectives of some, but it also caused some to reevaluate. It was a discussion--a necessary one--that was simultaneously uncomfortable, heartwarming, and controversial.

To read the Southeast Missourian newspaper coverage of the speech, click the link.

Below is the video. Unfortunately, it cuts off toward its conclusion, but most of it is here:

Thanksgiving, a Day to Give Thanks and Pray for Others

Thursday, November 27, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving!

There is so much for which to give thanks. As you eat, and eat, and eat today, take the time to reflect on your blessings. Take the time, also, to pray for those who are not as fortunate or who are not with loved ones. For example, pray for our U.S. military, who sacrifice so much for our freedoms, many of whom are thousands of miles away from their families.

God bless you all.

Governor Palin: 'I Would Love To' Get Back into Politics

Saturday, November 8, 2014

In an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity Friday night, Governor Palin discussed the magnitude of the loss Democrats suffered in Tuesday's midterm elections and what it says about Hillary Clinton's supposed inevitability in 2016. As is her wont, Palin also warned Republicans that their current standing rests on doing what they said they would do, on living up to their promises.

When asked if she would like to get into politics again, the Governor said, "I would love to," but she offered no details on the capacity in which she would serve.

Palins Highlight Media Hypocrisy in Addressing Abuse against Women

Sunday, October 26, 2014

I hope each of you will take the time to watch these two videos Gov. Palin highlighted, linking to Bristol Palin's blog. Like her, this makes me sick to my stomach--and if it doesn't bother you, while you pretend to be for women and against violence on women, you are as hypocritical as this so-called member of the media. When it's Rihanna, it's horrible, when it's Ray Rice's fiancé, it's devastating, and when it's you, it's unforgivable. But when it's Bristol Palin, it's funny??? I hate to break it to you, but the rules don't change just because a Palin is involved. Sickening! I'm glad this woman apologized, but CNN should suspend her.

Compare these two video:

Here's the first:

Now, look at this one:

I thought nothing could surprise me anymore with how the Palins are treated by the media and so-called celebrities, but I have to say this really grabbed and disgusted me in a way I thought was no longer possible. Hypocrisy is so unattractive.
