Sarah Polley's sophomore directorial effort Take This Waltz stars Michelle Williams as Margot, a 28-year-old Toronto woman who has been married for five years to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook author who specializes in chicken dishes. One day she meets Daniel (Luke Kirby) her neighbor across the street, and there is a quick and lasting connection between the two. While she remains faithful to Lou, she finds herself drawn more and more to this seemingly perfect other man. 1. Negative review
Peter Bradshaw, Guardian [UK] Basically pretty humourless, considering that sharp comics Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman are in the cast, clearly doing their level best as actors. But there's no air for them to breathe. Full review External link
  2. Positive review
Robbie Collin, Daily Telegraph Flush with beauty and truth, and is unerringly, unnervingly accurate on love, desire and friendship. Full review External link
  3. Positive review
Cath Clarke, Time Out A hard-headed, generous film about love. Full review External link
  4. Positive review
David Hughes, Empire Magazine A masterfully painted portrait of an ordinary marriage under threat, dominated by a central performance of exquisite subtlety and observation. Full review External link
  5. Positive review
Christy Lemire, Associated Press Polley (who's been an actress herself) never judges these people she's created. Instead, she depicts the giddy, fleeting and illusory nature of new love, and lets us get caught up in it, too. Full review External link
