The Fall 2017 Semiannual Report to the Congress has now been posted on the OIG website. It covers OIG’s oversight work during the reporting period April 1, 2017 through September 30, 2017. This meets OIG’s requirement to issue a semiannual report to the Congress on oversight of the Department of State and the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

The tenth Lead Inspector General (Lead IG) report on Operation Freedom's Sentinel (OFS) has been published and presented to Congress. This report summarizes key events in Afghanistan this quarter and also describes completed, ongoing, and planned oversight work conducted by Lead IG and partner agencies relating to OFS. .

A federal jury convicted a Romanian citizen for his role in a government contract kickback scheme that caused a loss of more than $3.4 million to the U.S. Department of State. OIG's Office of Investigations helped with this case.

A former U.S. Department of State employee pled guilty to conspiring with others to sell vehicles belonging to the government, without authorization, for their own personal profit. OIG's Office of Investigations assisted with this case.
