This is a bait and switch operation. Nearly all the articles are locked so all you can see are headlines. If you click on one, you get an invitation to subscribe. In my case, I already have a subscription but there is no way to sign in so even I can't read any of the articles!
Nao Nozawa
Frustrating The notifications in Lollipop are extremely hard to read because the white and light grey text are on a white background.
Eric Stephens
Won't open For the life of me, I cannot understand how the idiot developers of this app can never seem to make it work! It seems like each update gets worse instead of better. As much as I pay for a subscription to the WSJ each year, this is pretty damned annoying!
Glenn Kaufman
Someone tell wsj mgmt it's not 1995! shame on wsj! Even though setting is set to download Now addition, I still have to have an Internet connection to read most articles! At least it doesn't crash as it always did in the past. Still has a log on problem. It rarely recognizes that I am a subscriber so I have to log back in - so I read the FT instead when this happens. A shame as app is good sans the hassle but a time waster. Have wasted soon much admin time on this. Don't have this wonderful "feature" with others. Enough!

Latest update makes Breaking News Notification all white! The recent update makes the Breaking News notification all white and makes it hard to read. This version also doesn't work well with tablets it's buggy and screen size adjustment is off.
Drew Martin
Very unstable app Let me start by saying I love the subscription, it is a great value. But as far as news apps go, The Journal has one of the worst apps. It fails to remember my log in credentials (when it does not crash). Nearly unusable. There are major bug issues on it.

Awesome content, terrible app. Article formatting is bad. But worse is that it doesn't even start half the time. Even after reboot. Certainly News Corp could do better with my subscription dollars.
Miserable app! I'm a subscriber and--when the app works--I can read articles when my laptop isn't convenient. However, I've had constant trouble with the app failing to open or whatever its latest issue is. If I clear the cache and delete all the data, then log in for the umpteenth time, I can usually get it to work again. But for an expensive news provider, they have an extremely bad, annoying app. (I am being polite.)

Boy am I glad I got my subscription for free... This app is a joke. No categories. Terrible UI - you know Lollipop exists right??? It actually doesn't look like they updated this app visually since the inception of Android app itself. 1 star until it improves and looks like it belongs in 2015 visually and in terms of capabilities.
![Rey Sanchez avatar image](https://swap.stanford.edu/was/20100322163935im_/https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/--kPfsuZLp5I/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAABwY/EMXr4YYWLzU/w48-c-h48/photo.jpg)
Frustrating to use It's too bad since I think the digital edition of WSJ looks and reads beautifully. Unfortunately the authentication seems to work poorly. I log in and then the next day all the articles are locked and I have to literally log out and then log back in to my account (I'm a subscriber). This happens on both my tablet and phone, one running KitKat and the other Lollipop. This makes it difficult to use for no reason.
Does not automatically download full articles The news and articles are great but the app needs some work. I have to remember to manually click on most of the articles and download them before I get on the subway else I will get to mostly read headlines during my hour long commute to work.. The app should automatically download every single article and image onto the phone every morning. I have been a paying subscriber for years and am hopeful that this functionality gets added soon.

Not even CLOSE to the iOS version... WOW are there a lot of features missing from this Android version of the WSJ, expecially when comparing to the iOS version. The iOS version for the iPad has a scrolling "What's News" section on the left of the front page which allows for fast and efficient scanning of the "top" news stories of the day. On the right side of the iOS iPad version is a pull-out menu of sections which makes for VERY fast navigation and in-depth scanning of the day's WSJ edition. Both of these feature are absent from this Android version.
Has improved but a ways to go still Has gotten better. Still a bit slow at times. My old review: This app has always been buggy since I installed it two years ago, but over the last several updates it has gotten progressively worse. It takes forever to load, it doesn't always load the stories correctly when I tap on them, and it oftentimes hangs when I'm connected via wifi. If it doesn't get better very soon I'm going to uninstall it and get my news elsewhere.
Lacking features and options Haven't used it much yet but right off the bat you can't change the text size unless you change your entire phones text size. I hate having to scroll so much or else have the entire phones fonts too small to read without serious concentration. There is no option to tell it not to auto-check for articles at least every 8 hours. And personally I feel it asks for too many permissions but I was required to have this for school. I love information but their app could use some more options and less requirements

The World in 2015
The World in 2015, the latest in The Economist's annual collection of predictions, identifies and explores the issues that will shape the year ahead. Prominent figures from politics, finance, economics, business, science and the arts, join journalists from The Economist and other leading publications in offering forecasts for 2015.
Politicians such as Joko Widodo and Matteo Renzi outline their plans for reforms, Hillary Clinton focuses on closing the gender gap and David Blaine reassures us that magic can still amaze.
For much of 2015, the world’s divisions will draw the most attention. While some economies are moving ahead, others are in danger of slipping back into recession or are experiencing a fiscal deficit. Nationalism is on the rise even as the West argues over how to respond to a rogue Russia and rampant jihadists. But it’s not all gloom, sporting and speed records could be broken and cinema-goers will delight in a new Bond movie and a new Star Wars sequel too. NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft will also give us a fleeting glimpse of Pluto.
The app offers free access to a small selection of articles; within the app you can pay to access the full selection of articles and video.
Contributors include:
American business magnate, Bill Gates; US Senator and First Lady, Hillary Clinton; Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Italy; Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia; world famous magician, David Blaine; investor and activist, Carl Icahn; and Michelle Bachelet, President of Chile.
