Share Where You Are
Let people know where you've been, where you're headed and where you are now.
Add where you are to anything you share
In the past, you needed a smart phone to easily share your location. Now you can share your location from your computer, too, and say:
- Where you've been. Remember where you were in your favorite photos.
- Where you are now. If friends are nearby, they might just meet you there.
- Where you're going. Friends who have been there can give you tips or even join in the plan.
Turn location on or off, up front
The location button in the sharing tool lets you add your general location to all of your posts after you turn it on and until you turn it off. You can also add a specific place, like a restaurant or park, to your posts.
Don't want to add your general location to all of your posts? You can turn off this feature at any time.
Choose who sees where you are
Decide who sees each thing you share up front, including posts that say where you are. Learn more about how sharing works.
As a part of these changes, the mobile Places feature is going away, and so are the settings associated with it. If you're still using this feature, your check-ins will be seen by the audience selected in your default privacy setting. If your friends try to check you in using this feature, your "Friends Can Check You Into Places" setting will still apply.
Removing and Reporting
You receive notifications whenever someone tags you in a post. You can remove the post from your profile (or even update your privacy settings to review things you're tagged in before they go on your profile). You can also remove the tag or ask the owner of the post to remove it from Facebook. Learn more about how tagging works.
