No. Only your confirmed friends can contact you through Facebook Chat.

To prevent a friend or group of friends from calling or chatting with you:

1. Create a friend list that includes the people you’d like to prevent from chatting with you. You can also use any existing friend list you’ve created.
2. Click in the bottom right corner of the messaging sidebar.
   
3. Select Limit Availability...
4. Check the box next to the friend list you don’t want to be available to chat with and click Close. You can also select “Only make me available to:” from the menu and check off the friend lists you want to be able to chat with.

Note: To stop someone from contacting you, you can also unfriend the person or block the person from interacting with you in any way on Facebook.

Your chat history with a friend is included as part of your complete conversation in Facebook Messages , along with your other messages, texts and emails.

If you’re chatting with someone, your recent conversation history is available by scrolling up within the chat window. To clear this recent history, click the actions menu at the top right of the chat window and select Clear Window. Note: clearing your chat window does not delete these messages from your conversation history.

To permanently delete part or all of your conversation:

1. Select See Full Conversation from the actions menu at the top right of your chat window.
2. Select Delete Messages... from the actions menu at the top of the conversation.
3. Check the individual messages you’d like to delete and click Delete Selected at the bottom of the page, or click Delete All to delete the whole conversation.

To delete one or more messages within a conversation:

1. Open the conversation.
2. Select Delete Messages... from the actions menu at the top of the conversation.
3. Check the individual messages you’d like to delete and click Delete Selected at the bottom of the page, or click Delete All to delete the whole conversation.

Only your confirmed friends can contact you through chat. If you’re uncomfortable with a chat conversation, you can unfriend that person. If necessary, you can also block the person from contacting you.

If a friend sends you a suspicious link in chat that they didn’t mean to send, your friend has probably been phished. When you receive a chat like this:

• Do not click the link. If you click it accidentally, don’t enter your email or password information on the page that opens. Close the page right away.
• If you do click the link, reset your password from the Account Settings page. This is to make sure your own account is secure.
• Have the friend that sent the message review the phishing section of the Help Center and take the suggested security measures.
• Click the actions menu at the top right corner of the chat window and select Report as Spam. If you report a chat session as suspicious, the link in the chat is flagged for review, helping our systems fight spam. Your friend's account will not be affected directly when you report a chat session.
