When you poke someone, they'll receive a poke alert on their home page. The poke feature can be used for a variety of things on Facebook. For instance, you can poke your friends to say hello.

To poke a friend:

1. Go to their profile (timeline)
2. Click on the   in the upper corner
3. Click Poke

When you poke someone, a poke icon will appear on his or her Home page with the option to "Remove Poke" or "Poke Back."

Once you remove a poke from your home page, you can't get it back. But, you can still poke back. Removing a poke also allows the other person to poke you again.

You can only poke a confirmed friend, someone that is in a shared network, or a friend of a friend.

Only a confirmed friend, someone that is in a shared network, or a friend of a friend can poke you.
