To edit the name listed on your account:

1. Review our name standards
2. Go to your Account Settings page
3. Click on the Name section, type in your name, and save your changes

Note:

• To help make sure that everyone uses their real name, we limit the number of times you can change your name.
• If your name is changed by a Facebook representative, this change is considered final. This means you will no longer have the option to manually change your name.
• If you weren't able to change your name, we may be able to help.

This might be because the name you requested doesn't follow our name standards. If you've read our name policies and think that your name was rejected by mistake, let us know.

To change your date of birth:

1. Click the Edit (Update Info) button on your profile (timeline)
2. In the Basic Info section, enter your real birthday
3. Save your changes

If you'd like to list a second name on your account (ex: maiden name, nickname, or professional name), add an alternate name to your account:

1. Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page.
2. Choose Account Settings.
3. Find the Name field and click Edit.
4. Enter your alternate name.
5. Check Include this on my profile (timeline) to have your alternate name listed on your profile (timeline). Otherwise, it will only help people find you in search.
6. Save your changes.

Note: If you checked the box to have your alternate name listed on your profile (timeline), it will appear next to your name at the top of your personal profile (timeline) page. It will also show up next to your name in search results and any friend requests you send.

If you checked the box to display your alternate name on your profile (timeline), it will appear in parentheses next to your full name at the top of your profile (timeline). People will also see your alternate name if they search for you or when you send friend requests.

To edit your relationship status:

1. Click the Edit Profile button on the top of your profile.
2. Click on the Friends and Family box.
3. Choose your relationship status from the drop-down menu. To add a partner, type their name into the open field. That person will receive a request to approve the relationship. If the request is accepted, that person's name will appear as a blue link on your profile.
4. Save your changes.

The person you list in your relationship status must already be one of your confirmed friends on Facebook. Unfortunately, if you enter the name of someone who is not your friend on the site, this information will not be saved.

1. Click on the Edit (Update Info) button on your profile (timeline)
2. Click on the Friends and Family box
3. Select your anniversary date from the Anniversary dropdown menu
4. Save your changes

Note: You must first be in a relationship with someone on Facebook in order to select an anniversary date.

You can control who sees the family members listed on your profile (timeline) by using the audience selector next to the Family section of your Edit/Update Info page.

Yes, you can add family members who don't have Facebook accounts to your profile (timeline). The only difference is that their names will appear on your profile (timeline) as black text rather than as blue links. Learn more about how to add family members to your profile (timeline).

You can add and remove employers and projects, and tag coworkers in the Education and Work section of your profile (timeline).

To add or remove an employer:

1. Click the Edit (Update Info) button on the top of your profile (timeline)
2. Find the Education and Work section.
3. Type the name of your employer into the Employer field. If a page exists for the employer you add, then your profile (timeline) will link to it. If you want to add an employer that doesn’t have an existing page, you'll be prompted to create a new page.
4. You can remove an employer by clicking the x to the right of the employer.

Note: You won’t be listed publicly as someone who likes this page unless you click the Like button.

To add or remove a project:

1. Click the Edit (Update Info) button on the top of your profile (timeline).
2. Find the Education and Work section
3. Click the Add a Project link beneath your employer and fill in the information.

To tag coworkers:

When you add an employer or a project, type the names of your coworkers in the With field.

You can add and remove schools and classes, and tag classmates in the Education and Work section of your profile (timeline).

To add or remove a school:

1. Click the Edit (Update Info) button on the top of your profile (timeline).
2. Find the Education and Work section
3. Type the name of your school into the College/University or High School field. If a page exists for that school, your profile (timeline) will link to it. If you want to add a school that doesn’t have an existing page, you'll be prompted to create a new page.
4. You can remove a school by clicking the x to the right of the school.

Note: You won’t be listed publicly as someone who likes this page unless you click the Like button.

To add or remove a class:

1. Click the Edit (Update Info) button on the top of your profile (timeline).
2. Find the Education and Work section
3. Click the Add a Class link beneath your school and fill in the information.

To tag classmates: When you add a class or project, type the name of your classmates in the With field.

To edit your religion:

1. Click the Edit Profile button in the top-right corner of your profile.
2. Select the Philosophy tab from the left-hand menu.
3. Type your religion into the Religion field. If there's an existing community page for that religion, your profile will link to that page. However, you won’t be listed publicly as someone who likes that page unless you click the Like button on that page. If there isn't an existing community page for your religious views, you will be prompted to create a new page.
4. Use the audience selector to select who can view your religion.
5. Save your changes.

You can add people, remove people and change the order of the people who appear in your People Who Inspire You field.

To add people who inspire you:

1. Click the "Edit Profile" button in the top-right corner of your profile.
2. Select "Philosophy" from the left-hand menu.
3. Type the names of people who inspire you into this field. If pages exist for the people you add, then your profile will link to them, however you won’t be listed publicly as someone who likes these pages unless you click the "Like" button. If you want to add someone who doesn’t have an existing page, then you will be prompted to create a new page.
4. Use the audience selector to select who can view this information.
5. Click "Save Changes."

To remove people from this field: Click the image of the person you want to remove, then either click the "Remove" link to the right of the box or press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

To change the order: Click on images and drag them from left to right. People you place below the line at the bottom of the box will appear beneath a "See more" link.

To add sports:

6. Click "Add Sport."

To remove sports: Click the "x" to the right of the sport.

You can add or remove activities and interests, and tag friends in activities on your profile.

To add activities and interests:

1. Click the "Edit Profile" button in the top-right corner of your profile.
2. Select "Activities and Interests" from the left-hand menu.
3. Type the names of a favorite activity (like hiking or reading) into the "Activities" field, or a favorite interest (like architecture or history) into the "Interests" field. If pages exist for the activities or interests you add, then your profile will link to them, however you won’t be listed publicly as someone who likes these pages unless you click the "Like" button. If you want to add an interest or activity that doesn’t have an existing page, then you will be prompted to create a new page.

To tag your friends in activities: To tag friends in an activity that you do together, click the "Edit" link to the right of the activity and type the names or your friends in the "With" field.

To remove activities: Click the "x" to the right of the activity.

To remove interests: Click the image of the interest you want to remove, then either click the "Remove" link to the right of the box or press the "Delete" key on your keyboard.

To remove a specific photo from the photo strip at the top of your profile, roll over the photo and click the x in the top-right corner. This won't delete your photo — it can still be found on your photos page.

Remember that you control who can see your tagged photos. To adjust this setting:

1. Go to your Privacy Settings page (Account > Privacy Settings)
2. Find the How Tags Work section and click the link to edit your settings
3. Use the audience selector to adjust your Profile visibility

To unhide the photos that you've removed from your photo strip:

1. Click the Edit Profile link at the top of your profile.
2. Click the Profile Picture tab.
3. Find the Row of photos at top of profile section and click the Unhide All button. Selecting this button will make all of the photos that you've previously removed appear at the top of your profile again.

To hide posts about your recent activity:

1. Go to your profile
2. Click the x next to a post about your recent activity
3. Chose the hide activity option
4. Click Hide All to confirm your choice

If you want to undo this setting, use the Edit Options link at the bottom of your profile to add these stories back into your profile view.

Note: Hiding one type of story will not hide all other types of stories from your view. There are the different types of stories that show in your recent activity:

• Relationships activity
• Group activity
• Events activity
• Profile changes
• Notes activity
• Sharing activity
• Questions activity
• Photo & video activity
• Likes activity
• Check-ins
• Wall post activity
• Discussions activity
• Reviews

To set your language, go to the bottom of the page you are on and click on the current language (in the left corner). Choose a new language from the menu.

You can also update your language on the Account Settings page:

1. Open the account dropdown menu at the top right corner of Facebook and choose Account Settings.
   
   
2. Next to Language, click the Edit link.

If the time stamps you see on Facebook are incorrect, your computer’s time settings are probably wrong. Facebook uses your computer’s time settings, so please make sure this information is correct. Once you have adjusted these settings, log out of Facebook and then log back in. Your Facebook time stamps should be adjusted accordingly.

You can create a badge for your profile (timeline) or page from the Facebook Badge page.

Badge items are various types of information from your Facebook account that you can include on your badge. Some examples of items to include are your Profile pic, Name, Hometown, Current City, Email and Mobile number. You can edit your Badge here.

Yes, you can make different badges to post on multiple sites. Once you have saved your first badge, you will see a Create a New Badge link on the top of the page. When you click on that link you can make as many badges as you want.

We don't currently offer a way to merge two accounts. We recommend downloading the information you've added to the account you don't want to keep. Then, add the account you're keeping as an admin for any Groups or Pages you manage.

Once you've moved all of your info onto a single account, please delete your duplicate account.
