About Me

The Knights Templar (member since 1099) AAA-Plus of North America (member since 1998) The preposterous delusion claiming the ancestors of the modern Lebanese, the ancient Phoenicians, to have come from the Arabian Peninsula as a complete people, id est, as "Phoenicians", is just that; a preposterous delusion with no historical or archaeological bases! Sabatino Moscati, the modern doyen of Phoenician Studies dismisses this claim as wishful thinking and an ideological (read Arabist) fabrication! He writes that "the formation of the Phoenician nation [...is] the result of an historical evolution in the Syro-Palestinian area, and not a migration of people from outside." In other words: The Phoenicians did not come from "elsewhere" to settle in Lebanon as an "old race" in a "new country". The Phoenicians developed their identity in Lebanon; they are a sui generis Lebanese spontaneous generation.
