CDC is working with CA, AZ, and WA to investigate a multistate outbreak of E. coli infections linked to ready-to-eat salads. Recalled salads and wraps are linked to an ongoing E. coli outbreak. If you have them in your house, don’t eat them and throw them away.http://go.usa.gov/WRDF

Join us on November 12th at 12 p.m. ET for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s very first Culture of Health Hangout.

We'll be tackling the role of public health departments in transforming community health with several leaders in the field. Our panelists include: Jewel Mullen, Connecticut Department of Public Health Commissioner;  Muntu Davis, Public Health Director and County Health Officer of Alameda County; Karen DeSalvo, City of New Orleans Health Commissioner; and Michael Meit, Co-Director of the NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis. Our moderator is Paul Kuehnert, RWJF senior program officer and Public Health team director.

The goal of this Hangout Series is to explore what it will take to create a culture of health, and to shine a spotlight on communities that are already on their way. We’ll talk through some of the complex ways public health is transforming — and hear some innovative ways public health departments are stepping up to the challenge.

We’re taking questions from viewers on social media on Twitter at @RWJF. Just tag your questions with #cultureofhealth and we’ll do our best to answer them during the hour.

About 1 in 3 adults between 50 and 75 have not been tested for colorectal cancer as recommended. Adults aged 50-75 should get tested for colorectal cancer with their choice of a fecal occult blood test or fecal immunochemical test (FOBT/FIT) at home every year, flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years with FOBT/FIT every 3 years, or colonoscopy every 10 years. Learn more in CDC's latest #VitalSigns report: http://go.usa.gov/WBjB.

Let’s talk about antibiotic resistance! It's the topic of the next LIVE session of CDC Public Health Grand Rounds. Antibiotic resistance is becoming an increasingly common problem, resulting in more than 2 million illnesses and 23,000 deaths each year and adding $30 billion to the United States health care bill. Watch the live webcast on November 19 at 1pm ET, as CDC explores how to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use. #SaveAbx  http://go.usa.gov/WN2Y

Having recently taken a microbiology class, this stuff is something everyone should pay attention to. If there is a way to set a reminder here, I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me how. Thanks!

In the latest Director’s Briefing video, CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden talks about the importance of testing to prevent colon cancer. About 23 million adults haven’t gotten the life-saving tests they need to find colon cancer early. Testing can find precancerous growths and saves lives. People are encouraged to talk with their doc about testing options. The best test is the test that gets done. http://bit.ly/1b5sXyy
