Giving students assignments with depth wouldn’t be possible without our devices. They push students to think at different levels – everything from problem solving to creative thinking.
Challenge
The limitations of the traditional classroom were getting in the way of creative teaching and learning at Lake Catholic. “Teachers wanted to communicate more,” explains Taylor Smith, the school’s technology coordinator. Instead of computer labs, Smith thought 1:1 devices would encourage more participation from students.
Solution
Lake Catholic teachers received Chromebooks; at the same time, the entire school began using Google Apps for Education, as well as Classroom to organize lessons. One year later, all students received their own Chromebooks. Today, students and teachers work collaboratively on classwork, and students are more likely to ask questions and engage in discussions with classmates and teachers.
