Wilson School District transforms traditional classrooms into digital learning environments with Google for Education

I can’t imagine having the high levels of learning, classwork, resources and student engagement that we have today, without Google Apps For Education.

Chris Trickett, director of technology for Wilson School District, Pennsylvania

Challenge

Wilson School District knew a technology transformation was on the horizon. It needed to identify instructional technology practices, ways to meet the demands of progressive teachers and students, and pockets of innovation that would drive positive change.

Solution

Wilson SD piloted both Google Chromebooks and Apple MacBooks. The ease of use, collaborative tools and intuitive nature made the response for Chromebooks overwhelming. Wilson SD ultimately transformed into a digital 1:1 ecosystem: every K-1 student was given a Google Nexus 7 tablet and 5,200+ grades 2-12 students received Chromebooks--all running Google Apps.
