Most people sign lengthy Terms of Service without a second glance, or sign up for a credit card without really looking at the fine-print disclosure or booklet of conditions that comes with it.

There’s too much information, presented with too much complexity, for a typical person to process. But buried in all this fine print lies lots of important information that may shape how we behave — and how we may be punished.

This two-day pop-up challenges students to design new ways to help people digest complex financial and legal information, and then make better decisions with it. Students will go through bootcamp on information design, and then will use their new skills to create new solutions to the problem of complex & lengthy texts.

By the end of the class, students will know the fundamentals of how to design information in a user- friendly way — and will also have created a new product to empower people to understand the rules of the systems they live in & to know their rights.
