Judith K. Paulus is the Associate Director, Media and International Affairs, of Stanford's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). Her responsibilities include institute publications; the media; public outreach; public lectures; and cooperative endeavors with other leading public affairs organizations. Before joining FSI in 2005, she served as the Communications Counsel to the Semiconductor Industry Association, Silicon Valley's consortium of chip companies, reporting to the president, George M. Scalise.
Among her corporate positions, Dr. Paulus has served as Director, Civic and International Affairs, of Sara Lee Corporation, reporting to Chairman and CEO John H. Bryan; as Vice President/Director of Strategic Planning and Vice-President/Chief of Staff, for Consumer Banking with Citibank; and as Corporate Director, Communications, for FMC Corporation, reporting to Chairman and CEO Robert H. Malott. Earlier in her career, she was a member of the senior international staff of the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. and served as a consultant with the Hudson Institute's European practice based in Paris, France.
She holds a BA magna cum laude from Stanford University in Political Science and an MA and PhD in International Affairs and International Economics, with distinction, from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University. Active in several Bay Area public policy organizations, Ms. Paulus is also a member of the New York Council on Foreign Relations, and a Director of the Women's Research and Educational Institute in Washington, D.C. She is also a Trustee of Trinity Episcopal School in Menlo Park.
