University to test upgrades to AlertSU system on Wednesday, Aug. 20

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 12:15 p.m., the university will send out a test message to faculty and staff via the AlertSU system. The test is being conducted in an effort to test upgrades that have been made to the mass notification system. Faculty and staff should receive a text, an email and a phone call or voicemail message to the contact information maintained in the StanfordYou system. Students will not be part of next week's test, but they will be included in the annual full-scale test planned for fall quarter.

The university encourages all members of the Stanford community to update their contact information, particularly the mobile phone field, in StanfordYou as soon as possible prior to the test.

If you program the following numbers into your mobile phone, you will recognize when you are receiving an official call or text from the AlertSU system:

  • Phone: (650) 725-5555
  • Other (for SMS/text messages): 67283 or 226787

The test email will come from alertsudps@lists.stanford.edu.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as the university takes steps to upgrade this system.
