In April, 1993 G. Richard “Rick Wagoner, Jr. was named head of GM’s Worldwide Purchasing (WWP) Group, a $50 billion operation responsible for buying all of GM’s direct and indirect materials. WWP could now be taken in a new direction, but would the gains the program had already produced have to be given up?
