Delegating with Intention: The Situational Leadership Model

This course is an interactive, practice-based workshop that provides managers with skills for collaborating with others when assigning and delegating work. Developed by renowned thought leaders Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, Situational Leadership is based on the premise that effective managers need to be flexible, with no single optimal style for all leaders to use all the time. Instead, effective managers adjust their leadership style based on the person or group, as well as the task, job or function that needs to be accomplished.

Three crucial delegation skills are taught via the Situational Leadership model:

  • Diagnosis: Learn to choose the most appropriate leadership style in a given situation
  • Flexibility: Gain insight into four leadership styles and how to put them into practice when delegating
  • Partnering: Learn communication strategies for working with individuals to develop their competence and commitment
