Toney Receives the Streit Award

May 14, 2015. Marie Toney, finance and administrative services manager for the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences, was awarded the Arnice P. Streit Award for Distinguished Service in the School of Humanities and Sciences at the school's annual staff recognition lunch today.

The award was created in 1987 in honor of Arnice P. Streit, whose record of excellence in several key posts left an indelible impression on faculty and staff during her 27-year career in H&S.

In announcing the award, Toney was recognized in "glowing reports from faculty, students and staff [who] testify to the exceptional contributions she has made to H&S over the years. Some have noted that her positive impact does not stop at the doors of her office, but extends well beyond H&S – strengthening the communication among administrators in other schools as well." Nominators described her as the go-to person for advice and information, always having an open door and a smile. "She makes others feel motivated and happy. Her connections to other staff, developed over her long tenure at Stanford and through her friendly and congenial manner, have kept her area running smoothly. She goes to great lengths to make sure everyone is being treated fairly and with respect -- it is obvious she cares deeply for her staff."

At the same lunch event, Toney was also recognized for her 40 years of service to the university.
