Perspectives from Afghan Law Professors & Graduates
Hear stories, perspectives, and legal analysis presented by faculty members and graduates of the Law Department at American University of Afghanistan, the partner institution of SLS’s own Afghanistan Legal Education Project (ALEP). Using the infamous Quran-burning case, Farkhuna, as a starting point, our visitors will touch on topics of legal pluralism, gender, Western miconceptions of Shari’a law, among other topics. They will also share what it is like to teach and learn law under a relatively constant threat of violence and instability.
This promises to be a thought-provoking and informative presenation that you are unlikely to soon forget. Lunch will be served.
