Women playing basketball on field,1900. Stanford Historical Photograph Collection (SC1071: 3293-006).

The University Archives is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibition, now on view in the Albert M. Bender Room of Green Library, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Stanford Women's first NCAA Basketball victory. Home of Champions showcases the history of Women’s Basketball at Stanford University, from the first intercollegiate women’s basketball game on the Pacific Coast in 1896, to the passage of Title IX and the rebirth of intercollegiate women’s basketball at Stanford, enabling the Cardinal to win two NCAA Division I titles, in 1989/1990 and 1991/1992, as well as countless other awards and accolades, including most recently a victory over UC Berkeley to secure the 2014/2015 PAC-12 Championship.

The Stanford University Libraries’ Department of Special Collections and University Archives acquires, preserves, and provides access to primary source materials that support the research needs of the Stanford community and beyond, including through the creation of exhibits.
