Welcome to Stanford's Office of the General Counsel (OGC).  The purpose of this website is to familiarize the Stanford community with our office and its services. In addition, we answer frequently asked questions and provide links to Stanford resources and legal research. From time to time, we also post recent legal developments of particular importance to the University and our community. The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for addressing legal issues arising out of the activities of Stanford University, Stanford Health Care and Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Led by its Vice President and General Counsel, Debra L. Zumwalt, the office consists of in-house attorneys and support staff partnering with outside law firms.

The mission of the OGC is to educate our Stanford clients as to the laws applicable to Stanford's operations, to solve legal problems and facilitate transactions, and to provide advice and representation to help our clients fulfill their missions and meet their goals.
